Last weekend with a handful of time in hand I decided to head to BKK from Singapore. 4D3N and it was an awesome trip.

Whilst researching for flights I was initially going to fly MH (via KL) but found a CX direct flight to Bangkok.

CX712 - SIN - BKK A330

Given that the Skyview lounge is not somewhere I had like to spend my time, and no other Oneworld lounges are open for our flight (1400 dep), we arrived at the Airport an hour before schedule departure and breezed through custom. The flight was an old bird with the old regional config. I have never sampled the new regional aircraft before and thought I might be in luck. Crew was ok friendly but this is the first time I was not greeted by the CSM, and the stewardess servicing my section didn't seem to want to be there at all. It was a short flight anyway and I had already down a few beer pre departure, so, nah... didn't really care.

However, much to my surprise an air stewardess came out of no where and gave me this:

Thank you Sir for flying with us. That made my day.

2.5 hours later we found ourselves in Bangkok. CX has express cards for Bangkok much like the Express path card for Australia

We were lucky, otherwise we would be stuck in the queue for at least an hour or two. Around 10 mins later we were out waiting for our bags and another 5 mins later we found ourselves in our lovely taxi to Hilton Sumkhumvit.

Hotel for our 1st Night - Hilton Sukhumvit

This is a relatively new hotel and most taxi driver had trouble finding it. My driver had to call the hotel for direction, but if you struggle, it's around 200m from JW Marriot.

I used P&P to book one night, damage was 12,000p + 1,555baht. Upon check in I was escorted to the EL for check in. However, the lounge manager wasn't too happy with my dress code (shorts + flip flop). I was given an upgrade to an executive plus room which was nice. Didn't push for suite as it didn't really matter, the plus room was spacious enough.

Service was great but I had to avoid the EL because I only brought my flip flops. The staff there keep apologising and it didn't matter for me.

The highlight was the pool!

An infinity pool located on the 26th Floor. However as we had dinner planned we didn't really get to do spend time at the pool.

The highlight of my trip was Cloud 47, the latest addition to Bangkok's renown Skybar. We chose this place because shorts and slippers were allowed. It's located at the United Centre Building in Silom and of course, on the 47th floor. The view was amazing and f&b were cheap!. Total damage incl drinks were 1,900 baht. We were very satisfied!

FWIW, it's at least 2 km from Soi2 to Soi 24, not 200m.
