Any recommendations for a nice Bali hotel? I have not been to Bali since I was at university and now I am reluctantly going back with my two teenage boys. My oldest son is planning on studying Indonesian for HSC so this is purely educational as long as educational involves 5 star accommodation, beach access and coughtails!

i am leaning toward Seminyak and even though I know the beaches aren't that good would still like beach access or close to. Would like it close to nice restaurants and preferably a two bedroom villa.

any suggestions?
thank you

Beach wise, I haven't heard of a nice one in Bali, at least compared to back home (WA in my case, but most of AU really).

Conrad Bali and the LC Laguna are both brilliant for different reasons. I think I did a write up on both somewhere. If you chain allegiance then go where the benefits are, you really can't go wrong.

I prefer Nusa dua as it is quieter with less traffic, and even the touts are polite and only ask once. I think they all have to be registered down there or something.

Not a hotel but i stayed at Ulin Villas in Seminyak a few years ago. It was great. They have 1,2 and 3 bedroom villas. Close to the main street. Definitely recommend.

Lu-Lu Double 6 in Seminyak about as good as it gets - not cheap but spectacular. http://www.double-six.com - and they have 2 brm suites. Right on beach with great pool complex.

Walking distance to Ku De Ta / Gado Gado / Red Carpet Champagne Bar as well as its own fantastic restaurants and fabulous rooftop bar.

Dates you are looking at? Luxury Escapes or one of those had a promo running in News Ltd's Escape mags last weekend - search around and you will find a deal. Good luck - pics - we love pics.

If that is too expensive have a look at Padma - it's older but very good - they have great 2 brm Garden Chalets set amongst old established gardens which really add to its appeal.

Right on beach in Legian - stayed here 2 years ago and would go back in a heart beat - I love the location as you can walk out the front gate and be smack bang in middle of tourist HQ - the kids will love this location. Pool complex is adequate - food solid - plenty cheap bars / restaurants just outside front gate.

Just had a week at the Le Meridian.
Beach is "OK" ! But the hotel itself while nice and away from everything , doesn't have a "Great" restaurant experience. There are however done really good restaurants further ( A short walk) down the beach.
I'm going back in July ( Mrs GPH's idea) and staying at the CK Villa's.
I did a TR which had some shots of CK ( and the actual villa). I guess it comes down to what you want to spend and what you want to do.
I'm told the IC Jimbaran is pretty special ( not far from Le Meridian)

Looks stunning!

Another suggestion if you want to go all out is the Four Seasons. I've not been to the one at Jimbaran Bay, but have to Ubud. I'm told Jimbaran Bay is better than Ubud (Four Seasons wise) and I still think the Ubud Four Seasons is the best hotel I've been to.

Thank you for all your suggestions. Am leaning toward the Four Seasons or the Double 6............
