I note with interest that BA15/16 cease flying SYD-SIN in the next few days and are back for a couple of weeks in late Nov/early Dec and then gone again, leaving only the BA codeshare on QF during the ensuing periods.

Does anyone know why these flights have been pulled, other than the obvious that perhaps they don't have the loads, which is surprising at the tail end of the year?

Flight | From | Depart |To | Arrive | A/C | Frequency | Effect |Ending | Exceptions
BA16 | SYD | 16:35 |SIN | 21:35 | 744 | 1--4567 | 29-Oct | 2-Nov | Thu 05 Nov
BA16 | SYD | 16:35 |SIN | 21:35 | 744 | 1234567 | 28-Nov |13-Dec

British Airways has announced a number of cancellations affecting the following services between London, Singapore and Sydney during the following weeks of the Winter 2009 schedule:

<snip>

BA15 London Heathrow to Singapore and onward to Sydney

Please note that departures for the Singapore to Sydney leg will be 1 day later.
1 November 2009 to 25 November 2009
28 February 2010 to 27 March 2010

BA16 Sydney to Singapore and onward to London Heathrow

Please note that departures for the Singapore to London Heathrow leg are the same day
3 November 2009 to 27 November 2009
2 March 2010 to 29 March 2010

Currently all passengers are in the process of being reaccommodated to alternative flights.

It's purely a load thing I believe. They just don't think the demand is there during that time.

LHR-SYD isn't that great a money maker iirc. Given the distance and the prices charged it is not one of the best runs I believe

Yep, there will continue to be rumours that BA will pull out of SIN/BKK-Australia completely. Compared to routes like LHR-LAX or LHR-SIN the money made is nothing compared to the down time of the plane, staff expenses etc etc.
