Yes, you read right. I'm sitting in the MEL J lounge, and noticed that the SSID has changed (we will leave discussion as to whether that is sad or not alone). After selecting the new SSID I noticed that the landing page is now Optus branded rather than Telstra. Not inspired with confidence, I fired up safari and "wow", so incredibly fast.

Lets hope it stays that way and that it is rolled out to all the lounges.

I noticed good results on the new "Qantas-Lounge" SSID in the ADL lounge during a busy morning this Monday just gone.

And I'm on it again right now. Lounge not as busy as Monday morning. Wi-fi running beautifully. The login problems I used to have with the Telstra account don't occur either. Happy Camper :D

ALTHOUGH I did notice on Monday that Optus check what websites you are accessing. If they suspect it has 'adult content' you won't be able to access it. This is rather disappointing. Not because I want to access anything that I shouldn't while in the lounge but because it filters even kosher websites such as a youtube video I was wanting to watch about "homosexuality in uganda". Clearly they thought it was coughographic.

Can't remember which QF WiFi thread l posted it in, but here is a shot of the broadband that can be purchased in the QC's that l have mentioned. (Posted from the PER QC - speed is pretty good).

If that's the video where the priest talks about what homosexuals do, it's really good! Couldn't stop laughing.

Looking forward to trying out some vastly improved wifi soon.

I was using the QC Lounge wifi (free) to post last night in PER. It worked fine (fast enough for web browsing), so l don't know why anyone would fork out $5 for 'broadband wifi', when the free one provided by QF has definitely had a speed increase.

The wifi service in question is actually provided as part of the public internet terminals located downstairs.

Before QF switched over to Optus, this was a viable backup if you needed to connect and get something done, and were sitting in the right part of the lounge to pick it up. I have used it on a number of past occasions when I didn't have another device I could teather to, and it was a handy, cost effective backup.

The advantage of this service is you basically operated a pre-paid account, so that if you didn't use the balance in a single session you could login next time and use the remaining credit - either here or anywhere else where there was an Everywhere Internet or QF Web Connect service in operation.

Safari issues have also been fixed, which l previously had.
Little bit slow at the moment (SYD T3, QC), but it isn't too bad, very usable.

Could not get wifi access in the Flounge in BKK at all. Tried with laptop iPad and 2 iPhones. There were a couple of very annoyed other passengers going off at the lounge staff about it. I contemplated sending a note to QF but I think the lounge in BKK is actually a BA one but am not too sure

Just done the HBA express run via Mel Syd Cbr and Hba, WIFI has been brilliant everywhere (didn't test in Hba though).

Optus have really delivered a huge improvement over Telstra (for once). Thanks Qantas/Optus.

I was in the FLounge in BKK on 20th April; the wireless was fine then.

The lounge was a pleasant experience - apart from the guy from CBR who insisted on sharing his experience with the whole lounge (especially his drinking exploits and how the techs from Microsoft don't drink and when they do, do not handle their drink well) - the lounge was a pleasant experience.

The showers were nice and clean as well.

In MEL J Lounge on Sat - it was well populated due to fog-related fog delays.
Very impressive speed on Wifi, very impressive
Thank you QF & Optus
