In addition to its bold and ambitious $100 billion plan to build 150 skyscrapers between Central and Strathfield and relocate train lines underground, the AspireSydney Central Park Estate and M4 East Development unsolicited proposal document also suggests relocating Sydney's Overseas Passenger Terminal to Fort Denison, with space for two cruise ships: see [111] and Fig 20 (p 51). The new terminal would be connected to the existing road network near the Royal Botanic Gardens by a tunnel. Pinchgut would have to be significantly enlarged in order to accommodate the new terminal, judging by Fig 20 and the current size of Fort Denison.

The document (Fig 22, p 53) also makes mention of extending runway 34L at SYD 860 metres into Botany Bay.

And, as if its proposals were not already bold enough, the document also proposes--wait for it--replacing the Sydney Harbour Bridge: see Fig 15 (p 40) and Appendix One ([94] and ff)!

As reported in the SMH article, the Premier's Department has advised the consortium that the proposal does "not present a commercial or financial proposition for [the] government to consider".

For what purpose though?
My thoughts exactly.

I couldn't figure it out from the document. Perhaps the northern end of the runway would require trimming as a result of something else that they had planned in terms of road or rail infrastructure or the like. However, I wouldn't have thought that the northern end could be significantly trimmed to accommodate such infrastructure without also affecting the terminals, especially when we are talking about 860 metres!

The document (Fig 22, p 53) also makes mention of extending runway 34L at SYD 860 metres into Botany Bay.

Given the Space Shuttle is now retired, I can't think of what one would do with 4,822m runway at any sea level location?

(EDIT: Looks like I'm a little late to the party on that one...)
