Article: Qantas Will Refurbish Its Airbus A330s

Should be in operations by mid January and not before time. Would’ve been handy right about now but not to be. Just can’t keep up with the demand

Would have been handier in service during the last 10 months or so with passenger seats on it, making revenue, rather than a hare-brained Covid panicdemic thought bubble/being parked up in Germany.....

Hindsight things. At the time parcel demand was going through the roof so much so it was worth it to fly empty passenger planes with just cargo.

Meanwhile passenger demand was 0 and noone could see how it'd recover.

On the original topic, do people think QF think we'll only see thr younger a332 fleet get the treatment or will the 333s also get an extension on life?

Maybe but I along with others have been pleading for extra capacity well before COVID. and it’s been long overdue. Still need a stack more capacity to keep pace though

The Y seats in the 333s are fine, i think only the 332s will be getting a refurb (Y only)

New perk for status holders… guarantee of an iPad.

Have heard on a few recently flights they haven’t had enough iPads loaded meaning crew have handed them out in order of priority then from front to back.

This has caused a few issues on these flights with the crew coping complaints from people disappointed about the lack of IFE on flights to/from Asia.

On our QF Per - Sin flight in November last the crew told us they didn't have enough iPads for all pax. They also said one oven wasn't working. This was after my wife's tray table in the exit row disintegrated on being opened. She was given a tray to eat her meal off. The passenger opposite the aisle had to have a technician board the plane and do some work on her seat before departure. The crew were incredibly pleasant and helpful but also very annoyed with the rundown condition of the airplane. .

Please tell me they don’t torture pax with these IPads on BNE-LAX?

Singapore, Qatar, Emirates or pretty much anyone, would never let such a product loose on any International run. It’s embarrassing.

Why did they wait all these years, and decide to upgrade them, now, in the fleets dying years? What the heck has Management been doing for the last decade?

I can only laugh at why people persist with QF. Jump on an SQ flight and you get Wifi and IFE on every flight and likely much cheaper
Hey i do have to say, the 332 wifi for 5.5-6 hours between MEl - SIN absolutely much faster than most airlines. In J, its also not really different to other QF J seats.

I think i watched YouTube and caught up with some of my streaming shows last trip to SIN on QF and was happy to see the dom 332 I got.

I suspect QF very deliberately uses the ipad 332s to SIN /Indonesia maybe India more so they fly transcon and have the wifi running. The 332 running to LAX is probably their international configuration (yes IFE no wifi) outside of last minute op issues.

SQ and EK i agree with, but QR.... They have dinosaur 330s flying Int'l that they should seriously be handing out iPads too as well. The QF iPad 330s look great in comparison to those. QR just never puts them on their premium routes but instead to places like Colombo.

That's been one of the major criticisms of Alan Joyce. That he didn't do much on the fleet management side properly.

The lack of innovation in the customer journey over the last decade has been minimal. It’s the whole margin is high, monopoly market, why spend money? What difference will it make. Well, it’s a thing called….standards.

I hope the A330's are not in their "dying years". Because they'll likely get replaced by long range narrow body aircraft and I would much rather fly medium to long distance economy in a refurbished A330 than a new A321,
