Are airlines playing tricks?

So I am due to fly out in around 36 hours. I am not in a position to accept a voucher and would like a refund (aa flight) . My booking is still showing as “ticketed” not cancelled. I know my flight is cancelled as it’s shows on the airlines “flight status” check page. They have since this time sent me confirmation of my itinenary. My question is, at some point, and when, are they obliged to cancel my booking. Until then I cannot request a refund. TIA

do you mean in normal times or in the current situation?

my USA flights "depart" this week and still waiting four weeks for my 'approved' refund, so just because you cancel doesn't mean you will see your money anytime soon

that's really annoying in normal times. at the moment, "we are all in this together" if that helps a little.

Which airline and which route? I got a refund from QR for a flight that is still actually running.

if in doubt, call them up, first thing in the morning.

I called them this morning and they confirmed my flight was canceled AA. I believe it was canceled weeks ago but no one thought to advise me. I was waiting for it to show in my booking as "canceled" so i could get the refund but it never did . I was 99% sure it was going to be canceled but the airline were doing repatriation flights so i wasnt completely sure that mine wouldn't be one of them. They have put a request in for a refund, watch this space, as others advise me they may just refund for international sector!
