ANZ QFF cards

Hi Guys

Just got approved for my new ANZ AMEX/VISA combo QFF cards and want your help to figure a few things out

1. did the 16K QFF points deal? do they just appear when i activate the card or do i need to make a purchase (if so how much do i need to spend)

2. are there any tricks that anyone knows to maximize the amount of points i get

Thinking that i will pay my optus bills with the AMEX so i get 3 points per dollar and also pay my rent each month with the Amex which will accrue around 2K a month

any one else got any ideas

You need to be sure which utiities companies take Amex and which take Visa - almost ALL government utility companies do NOT take Amex.

Using amex at woolworths/safeway with everyday rewards card is a good way to build points.
