Any recommendations for accomodation near OOL?

Was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for accommodation near Gold Coast Airport. I have to pick a friend up from an early fllight, so thought I might as well stay the night before. Wotif lists about 10 places close by (with in 2km of the airport). Or would I be better off staying a bit further away? Not really looking for anything flash. Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions?

You're keen to stay overnight when only driving from Brisbane. Isn't it easier to just drive there early in the morning, with no traffic? 100km?

Bila Vista (3 - 3.5 star 1/2 bedroom style) is across the road though getting a little tired. Mantra Coolangatta is a bit better fit out, but it's nice waking up to look out over the beach (though not the studio rooms: they only have 4 and they are the only rooms to not have a beach outlook). Calypso next door is similar age/fitout but you don't have much chance of a nice outlook over the beach being only 2-3 floors high. Kirra Apartments look swish and Nautilus, though I think they are often minimum 2 nights.
