Stopping overnight Asiana J class SYD-PVG (arr. 2055), then BA J class PVG-LHR (dept 0730).

Any lounges I can use overnight? I was told Air China lounge can be used with my Asiana J ticket. I also have Priority Pass.

Thanks in advance!

none that you'd want to spend nearly 12 hours in I imagine from experience flying in China!

splurge on a hotel I think for that period of time for some sleep

Are you wanting to sleep in the lounge overnight? If so you'll need to have your luggage checked through or even better have HLO.

Can you use the Air China lounge as an arrivals lounge?

The Air China lounge in T2 that opened last year isn't bad (certianly much better than their lounge in PEK T3, I reckon). Not sure if it's an arrivals lounge though. Most likely you'd have to follow the conditions of the BA ticket.

There's a hotel between the two terminals at PVG that you could stay in. It's not quite the Hilton, but it's not a dump either. You will have to go through immigration to access it. You should be able to get the 72 hour transit visa on arrival at PVG. The hotel is called Dazhong Airport Hotel. Just follow the signs to the Maglev and you'll be able to find it.

Stayed in the Airport hotel in Sep last year after missing my flight. Not luxury but comfy for a sleep. Rate was not bad for a walk up. There is a reasonable bar on the top floor which had better wifi than in the room.

Hotel has a buffet or save some money and go to food court downstairs.

Pretty much my opinion of it too, but I'm not a regular user of hotels (or at least certainly not major brand ones like Hilton, Sheraton et al) so I don't want to oversell it. Didn't try the food there as I had snacks given as compensation by China Eastern for the flight delay which led me to having to use the hotel. You can of course book ahead and save. Might have to check out the bar next time I'm there, didn't know about it when I was there last time.
