Re: Air New Zealand Safety Video

Yeah well, I'm pretty speechless on that one...

I do like Rico better

Re: Air New Zealand Safety Video

NZ sure makes a lot of safety videos. I think you could make an argument for the variety though. I watched every frame of that, which is more than I can say for the cheesy QF effort. If they can improve people’s recall by updating the videos regularly then that’s got to be good, right?

Re: Air New Zealand Safety Video

eeek!

Actually it is mildly amusing, and doesn't take itself too seriously. (Not sure whether that is a good thing when the subject matter is so serious!)

Re: Air New Zealand Safety Video

I am not one for gimmicky things, but I really take my hat off to AirNZ. Everyone knows that hardly anybody listens to/watches the safety demonstration and by introducing new styles (and so many at that) it is engaging and grabs people's attention. I too just watched the whole thing, and that's a first.

Bringing in celebs (like the All Black flight safety demo which I thought was brilliant - and cannot believe the drama about the 'gay' scene) and having actual staff take the piss of themselves achieves what airlines like DJ, Virgin America and others try to achieve through other means: being contemporary and not overly-pretentious like the old BA days. Great way to start off a flight, and you know this is going to be 'fun' - as fun as a long haul flight can anyway :)

More of this is what's needed. I would like to see DJ do something similar. Looking forward to seeing more...

Bundy!!!

Thats BADDDD.. so bad i had to watch it to the end..

I know airlines are trying to get people to watch the safety videos/briefing.. but even i think this has gone a bit past that mark.. i would cringe being on a flight with that.

+1 to the above. :(

I loved what they did with the robotic Richard Simmons in The Simpsons, but hell no can I agree to this.

The tweets and some other comments I've heard say it's a great fresh new look which puts QF to shame and DJ needs it.

The first time may be alright, but every time after that I'd be increasingly more willing to tear my hair out.

I know it's really sad and plain wrong not to pay attention to the safety briefing when it is on, but I can't bear to watch that demo more than once, let alone I only heard it softly on my laptop, not full blast in a metal tube.

Naysay as much about QF's new video as you want, but give me JT & the QF "team" any day before this Rich Simmons safety briefing.

I wonder why NZ didn't just go back to their first "Nothing to Hide" themed demo, assuming that they needed to move away from the "Mad About Rugby" one.

Re: Air New Zealand Safety Video

A thousand times better than QF's JT cringefest.

Hey - let's not knock Rico... I love that little fuzzball... you watch anything he is in waiting for some dirty comment. Again, it achieves what most don't - it gets pax to watch the demo.

Love his happy hour one with the guy in premium economy space seats!

LOL!

This video is instantly better by referring to the FAs as 'crew' instead of QFs ridiculous 'team' invention
