Annoying message - Corporate Travel Booking

Hi all

A few work related flights have been booked through our corporate travel agent. My VA flights appear under "My Bookings" but when I go to see what fare has been booked or to select my seats I get this annoying message "The system has detected that your itinerary does not qualify for online changes"

Is there anyway to get around this? I'm VA Gold - can you still check in online or will it only allow me to check-in in person?
 
Seat selection should be fine, if you are using the iphone app it will allow you to select seat do the checkin and then a message will pop up saying there is a problem and then somehow the app will show your boarding pass.

fly ahead may be a problem with the check in agent saying that you need to speak with your travel agent to book you on an earlier flight.. persist and you will get the fly ahead.. happy flying..
 
Are you checking at T-24 or less? Online seats are not available within a certain timeframe :)
 
All my work flights are booked thru CT, and if there is a mix of VA and QF flights on the same itinerary , then I can't select seats thru the VA website. I have to call VFF and get them to do so.
Youll be able to checkin online as per normal and select seats then, but I wouldn't leave that selection to chance.
 
All my work trips are through CT and all with VA. I can select seats at check in via VA phone app. Surprisingly our CT rep continually tells us row 3 is not available despite me being WP and when I check in it is always available. I just check in now as soon as I can to secure row 3. I also did a fly ahead last week at counter check in with no issues.

For me this happens if the booking hasn't been confirmed/ticketed yet.
Once we confirm the ticket and the TA tickets the flight(s) with VA I can then make seat changes online.

I rarely say this, but call the airline. (If you have ExpertFlyer it helps to have it open and know what seat you want).

I've had similar trouble with AmEx free flights and agent bookings. Because the booking can't be changed online the website blocks you from doing anything online (including advance seat selection).

There are work arounds, but it's a pain in the backside and frankly an airline can't expect you to be a computer person, so they can bare the cost of additional call centre volume due to their [frankly substandard] website. #Rant


As a side note your Gold status should get you to an agent quickly on the phone thanks to their inbound call routing.
