Amusing Bestflights blunder: QF F to AKL/WLG/CHC/ZQN

As crazy as it sounds, this is a legitimate fare from Qantas.

I presume it was filed a while ago when they used to codeshare on the LAN service to AKL.

If you booked it today, it appears that the available airlines for the fare are JQ (lol), QF and NZ. "downgrades" to Economy/Business would apply per usual Qantas rules.

Is it just me or do all, if not at least the ex- Eastern seaboard, prices suck?

Hence why many people now use Emirates for this leg in J or F. If you're going to pay high prices - then you might as well travel in a quality F or J cabin...

No competition does this... and now Air NZ has furthered the QF cause by removing alot of J on this route.

QF has a stack of corporate business flying to and from NZ in J which means they don't have to discount to put bums on seats.

Emirates would get nada of this market in comparison I would imagine.

So, would you get F and J SC’s as you’re downgraded to J and Y, or just the fare class from the seat you travel in?

As I would understand it, it would be the fare class you sit in. This is ticketed at point of purchase.

Technically it depends on what gets ticketed. But in this case it can be, say, a F fare product but the booking engine or what not (or travel agent who handles you) will probably tell you "This sector must be flown in Business" and it will be ticketed in J.

A "similar" thing goes on when I booked an F award BNE-SYD-BKK-LHR-FRA. BNE-SYD, although part of the F award, is ticketed in award J, not award F. Same with buying a DONEx and routing through NAM where you are actually involuntarily upgraded to First; booking class which is ticketed is A.

come on fellas, this is the agency that couldn't work out (or simply forgot) that Qantas changed the R fare bucked from First to Premium Economy class and advertised Y+ fares as F fares. Idiots.

not much wrong with LAN when i flew them SYD-AKL in J return, except the OMG departure ex AKL.

A380 EK F Suites sell SYD-AKL for a decent price.

There's a lot wrong with LAN imo if you want more than a comfy seat; I found the LAN in flight offerings were pretty cruddy enough so that I rebooked my return flight onto EK ; the EK service is far superior to the LA service imo and in 1st EK is excellent ... plus of course EK provides the chauffeur drive at either end

EK also has suites on CHC-SYD , AKL-MEL and AKL-BNE services
