What to book? JUNIOR SUITE, RIVER VIEW. 36sqmtrs or ARCHIVE SUITE, 33sqmtrs

Archive suite has separate bedroom and is $30 more per night but smaller in size.

And Im breaking a AFFer rule - no FF points earn if I go with this hotel but at this point, Im over freaking Amsterdam accom.

I generally try and book a separate bedroom, as Mr FM has no trouble with Jetlag, whereas I do. A separate area means I can get up and read without disturbing him, particularly if it is the early hours before coffee shops open.

If you don’t have this issue, then go river view :)

Room booking inc breakfast was approx $120AUD extra per night. I didnt click that option.

47mtrs away is a breakfast-3pm cafe. Also found a kebab shop nearby for after Heinken tour dinner. Heinken tour incs 5 beers and I dont drink and he rarely ever drinks so he might need a kebab and nanna nap that night.

Van Gough and Kebabs - what can go wrong.

Lose an ear.:D

What area will you be in? Not that it matters. Amsterdam is good everywhere and easy enough to navigate on foot, bike, boat, or tram.

Went with Pestana in De Pjip area so about 2klms from museums. Bit further than I would have liked.

I think I looked at ever freaking hotel in Amsterdam by now. We prefer a room that isnt filled to the brim with chi-chi furnishings and hopefully a pool or spa. Suite preferred for extra space as I hate being cramped.

A lot of the ones I liked werent available for our dates or room choice wasnt available. Tried to book at least 4 hotels but not available or price in $1K+ per night. Tried a few hotels in the Jordaan area but dates not available. A lot of them the rooms are so small I couldnt justify the price for the size

Ahhh that's a little bit out of centre. Good thing the place is flat :p

Yeah, I tried Ink, Pulitzer, Banks, Ambassade, De Hallen, Andaz, Intercontenental, Hyatt, Albus, around Vondel. Even the Kimpton but why are so many hotels chi chi or overflowing with typerwriters and books and other clutter. Just give me an Ikea room.

I can cancel this booking so if I find something else I like, will change.

We stayed at the Marriott Amsterdam - at a time when I was having a nervous breakdown due to the fact that BA lost ALL our luggage. If it wasnt for the perseverance of the concierge at the marriott we would have never got it !! And we had NO status at the hotel. Staff were excellent.
Hotel is very central for walking, by a canal, restaurants are good - HIGHLY recommend by me :D:D:D:D:D - 5 stars !

Suite looks sweeeetttt. So if I consider cost of breakfast and taxi to Pestana room price, the Marriott affordable as a package might come in even

No pool by the looks of it and no spa?

WE stayed at what was the Crowne Plaza but i believe is now a Hotel Indigo. Well located, happy staff, in house dining was ok but everything is a quick walk or tram ride. Back entrance is onto mall so easy walking up and down for B/L/D.

We did hilton Apollolaan in December and lounge food was amazing. Diamond status and room was an upgrade. We walked to museum and caught tram into town.

My favourite little café/lunch spot in Amsterdam, Le Salonard, is walking distance from there. They do excellent sandwiches, cheese, wine and sweet pastries.
