Amex ultimate qantas bonus 100k a good deal?

Does the use of the $450 travel credit count towards the $3000 spend?
I had triggered the spend before reaching it this time round so can't confirm, however...
No it doesn't. It operates as a discount off the purchase price.
This is how it used to operate but did not this time for me. We had two transactions come through and then a statement credit:

By the bye, does anyone know how many payslips you have to provide in the application?
I think I sent two but I'm paid fortnightly.

You have to do the transaction by phone - at least that's how it was last time I did it.

No you dont, perfectly fine to do online.

Prior to the changes last year re credit use, if selected online it would show as a $450 discount. Now it does not, but on your statement provided the purchase meets the criteria you will be given a credit of $450 to offset the purchase.

Can anyone confirm if the David Jones American express card is considered a seperate product and therefore the 18month waiting period wouldnt apply for this card?

That was correct, but I thought the David Jones partnership was discontinued

Thanks. Yes, however I only closed my card 11months ago before the cessation of partnership. Just wanted to make sure it didn't make me ineligible.

Amex confirmed today that DJ's Amex will not impact the allocation of points for a new application of this card.
Are there any other products that is not considered an AMEX product? I currently have QF Ultimate. PC+ expired as of 01JAN24.

Looking to;

1. Get another CC with AMEX product that is NOT considered an AMEX product?
2. Get AMEX Platinum Business for business expenses. - I had asked earlier in another thread and my understanding is the business card is separate to personal card, so the business card is eligible for the sign on bonus (which I then intend to convert to QF for PC qualification)

Any advice is appreciated.

The only Amex cards that did not preclude someone from getting the sign up bonus from a 'main' Amex card (at least in the past 5 years) were bank-issued Amex cards, the David Jones Amex and the Westpac Altitude Amex - all of which have been discontinued.

The only scenarios where you can have held an Amex in the past 18 months and still be eligible for a sign up bonus are if you are a supplementary card holder or corporate (not business) card holder.
