Amex to buy a Pre-Paid Visa card

Hi Folks,
Has anyone used their Amex card to buy a Pre-Paid Visa card for purchases? I have some expenses coming up (3k) and since th emerchant does not accept amex, I am wondering is I could buy the pre-paid cards at austpost etc, get the points and then pay the merchant with the pre-paid card....

Anyone done this , Any feedback?

i have been unable to do this for some reason they only want purchases of prepaid cards *prepaid AMEX and others* is that i had to use my savings to pay for it they told me i wasnt allowed to use a credit card to pay for it

I am not aware of anyway to buy a prepaid Visa card and pay via Visa/Mastercard or Amex.

You have to pay cash, EFTPOS or direct bank transfer

7/11 have prepay cards you can buy on a credit card.

Some shopping malls allow you to use Amex to buy a mall-wide gift card. You can then use this at merchant's that don't take amex. Unfortunately they aren't usually valid at the large department stores (Myer/DJs) and so you want to make sure you spend it all or have something in mind.
