AMEX Platinum Charge Benefits - Q&A

$30 of the $75 net-a-porter credit gone in just freight now... pfft hardly seems worth it now.
freight used to be $10 from memory
I don't remember freight ever being as low as $10. But I only ever ordered from Mr Porter. When you add the high freight charges for an express courier and the already-ridiculously-high prices, I value the Mr Porter credit at about $20-$30.

i never used the credit on mr porter.
just bought stuff for the wife on net-a-porter and their shipping used to be AU$10 for DHL ;)

Hi guys, had my AMEX plat for 2.5 months. I see I am being offered an additional card with 5k bonus points. Should I take this or do better offers come with time? thanks

If you're in a hurry to get a second card into the hands of a family member (eg. so they can have airport lounge access) then 5000 points isn't too bad. But I've had 10,000 point offers and even, from memory, one 15,000 point offer. So if you're in no hurry or just doing it for the points I'd probably advise holding off, as long as you're aware that it might be a year or more until a better offer comes along.

Only one supplemental card receives the Priority Pass account (ie. the cardholder is entitled to two PP accounts only, no matter how many supplemental cards). Also all supplemental cards receive Virgin Lounge access and I think AmEx Centurion and Plaza Premium access.

Do they receive Virgin Lounge access? Per T&Cs:

Virgin Australia. Access is complimentary for Primary Platinum Card Member and one complimentary guest only. The Primary Platinum Card Member and guest must be travelling with Virgin Australia domestically on the same Virgin Australia flight. Access is to Virgin Australia-branded lounges in Australia only. Name on boarding pass must match the name on Platinum Card and boarding pass must be presented. The Platinum Card Member and guest must present their valid Card and same-day boarding pass (containing your Virgin Australia Velocity Frequent Flyer number and status) to Virgin Australia lounge agents. One guest per Primary Platinum Card Member permitted. All access is subject to space availability. This benefit is subject to change.

Or am I doing something wrong and there is a way for supplemental cards to access VA lounges?

Please explain
I imagine that it is describing the situation where you have a supplementary in the primary cardholders name denoted with A/C (can be useful for separating business expenses etc) but given the primary will have a card anyway, lounge access is moot.
Other supplementaries are not marked in any way and seem to be accepted as much as primaries with VA and Plaza Premium.

Thank you. Another AFFer had posted “AC will be reflected on the card”. Not really sure what the implication was as I’ve previously had an AU card, under a different name, but was not aware of any real difference denoting “AU”

My partner has been using her supplemental card to access the VA lounge without any issues.

It doesn't look like I will be traveling to any of the global dining countries for the rest of the year.

Is there any creative ways to use the $200 global dining credit?

Another devaluation. Looks like the Net-a-Porter offer is coming to an end. This was on my latest statement :(

AmEx made it clear (well, clear in the fine print) from the very start of the Net-a-Porter offer that it would expire at the end of 2023, so I don't think it's fair to call this a "devaluation". Rather, it was an offer which from the very beginning had an expiry date (like just about all of their other offers).
