Do the AMEX free flights count as eligible sectors? I need 2 more to re-qualify for SG. Have more than enough SC.

Pretty sure they count for zero in all terms.

Must have done a lot of overseas flights not to get 8 eligible sectors? I get there very quickly normally, it's the SCs I have trouble getting some years.

The sectors are the hard part for me. With status pooling and at least 1 overseas holiday a year with the wife, the credits aren't too hard to get. Especially when flying SQ. Getting 4 sectors domestically is more annoying when you don't want to overpay for domestic flights. Especially being Darwin based. A lot easier for east coast flyers.

The T&C's certainly say they won't, but there is some anecdotal evidence that people have received the points and SC's for these flights. Presumably if you are lucky enough and this happens for you they also count towards eligible sectors. Not something I would want to bank on though!!!

Not in my experience. There used to be anecdotal reports of them crediting to SQ if you put your KF number in but (1) I haven't heard of this for ages and (2) doesn't help you

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Definitely no evidence for Velocity on VA Amex flights. From day one, they've always been null.

Sorry my bad if I got that wrong, didn't mean to mislead anyone. I did however think you could go through a convoluted process to convert the free flight into a VA shell credit and then re-book the flight into a VA points earning fare bucket. As per this thread. I could be totally wrong though and you seem quite certain so I'm probably am wrong and as such the OP should probably ignore me!

Either way its certainly not as easy to earn SCs' on these flights than it was when AMEX used to have Qantas provide the free flights.
