@Pointy Bird - thanks for above - Out of interest what is the process to activating Qantas Club membership perk of Centurion? i.e. do you call Amex or QFF or both? Is it online form on Amex like most other enrols (i.e. Marriot Gold)?

Curious if it's similar to perk of ANZ QFF Black card where you read out first 9 card digits to get discounted rate (currently $442 per year) for Qantas Club (which agents see as "Corporate Scheme") by calling QFF (not ANZ)

I've also had a chat to the Platinum Concierge to see if there was anything else available to find out regarding the eligibility process to which I was told that there is no spend criteria and existing high value members can request consideration. They also detailed some of the questions on their end for the EOI.

Has anyone submitted an EOI recently and been invited? Curious to see what the spend is up to, and if the categories matter as much.

I put in my EOI and was roughly spending 7k a month for 6 years now. But I did purchase a 120k car on it also.

I got an invite after 6 weeks after I put in EOI. I declined it after they refused to waived the joining fees. This was during COVID time so I saw no value in the card.

Your RM will activate it for you. You can nominate your Centurion additional card holder for it if you don't want. This is what I did. You just fill out a form they email across to you.
I'm curious if anyone knows whether or not there's a minimum sustained spend to retain Centurion?
My spending patterns are a bit sporadic, I don't want to request an invite only to be kicked out a year later 😅.
No.

Did you put in your EOI via the US website?

I haven't seen the new card but it's more "plasticy" - presumably so they can get contactless functionality into them as the existing ones don't have it and Platinum Charge card's solution of sticking two cards together is a little clunky. Initial feedback at least on Facebook is that the cards peel and aren't of the same quality as the "old school" ones with the numbers embossed on the front of the card. I wonder who's still using their physical cards. ApplePay works just fine. Though I did stay at a Marriott last week where they refused to accept ApplePay and I was lucky enough to have a physical card on me. Not sure what I would've done to pay the bill otherwise.

Make it their problem - it’s 2023!! You were ready, willing and able to pay.

Same thing happened to me in Auckland recently. Told them I didn’t have a physical card. Thought it might be an Amex thing but neither Visa nor Mastercard worked. I let them scratch their heads for a while (I was in no hurry) then offered my card details (saved in 1Password) which were manually input.

It‘s inexcusable that these companies refuse to invest in technology that has been around for the best part of a decade. I’ve resolved not to offer my card details next time as this is more high risk … for me. They can sort it.

Diverting from the topic, but has happened to me at Sofitel Adelaide a couple times. I no longer carry the physical card on me but do have the numbers stored and a digital version. Usually they begrudgingly accept that... and so they should. Probably a discussion for the hotel category though.

As was relayed to me by the staff at the W in Brisbane "it makes life easier for the back office finance staff" (direct quote) if the [front desk] staff can swipe the physical card through the corporate reader - attached to the computer - (not the billing one) 🙄.

I have only tried the new one twice with contactless and that was overseas and neither worked. No problems with inserting them though.

My old one didn't work on the machine with Marriott Brisbane at Christmas and I asked why did they need it when its on file and prepaid anyway. They avoided the question and said don't worry they will manually input it. Weird.

I'm not aware of one - but would be interested to know. I know there is no Travel Credit.

Does the Cen card also have the dining credit benefit?
No.
We just received a new Blacklane spend $125 receive $125 credit per quarter.

Note we receive free Blacklane with every domestic and international business/first trip booked via our relationship manager.

No travel credit.
No dining.

Has that replaced Porter credit? That would be a downgrade if ur has as that has been $375/6 months.
