Unfortunately the old Sydney restauran thread is locked. On Thursday 4 of us dined at Alpha. It came about from meeting an American on our second Silverseas cruise. We still correspond by email.3 months ago he told us his son was coming to Australia for 12 months to advance his career as a chef.He is the pastry chef at Alpha.
It is an upmarket Greek restaurant. It cost $250 for the 4 of us but exactly half was for 2 bottles of wine + tip.Service was great so they deserved it.
We started sharing the 2 dips-hummous and cod roe.The hummus was much better than any commercial stuff. For mains we shared a small slow roasted lamb shoulder and a small slow roasted Kurobota pork.We were going to order more but our waiter assured us that would be enough and it very definitely was.We had a side of roasted parsnip in phyllo pastry and this was magnificent-unlike any other parsnip I have had.
We shared 3 desserts-Kaifilitis,greek donuts with chocolate chip icecream and the lemon icecream with quince and almond shortbread-all very good but the first was fantastic.

Only one thing you should be aware of-I had to sit looking at sonia Kruger at the next table all night!
