All I want is to be left alone (russ' EK rant)

Here's my EK flight this morning. All events happen in real-time.

1. I board the flight and show Victor my boarding pass. Victor hands it to Daisy to walk me to my seat. I am perfectly capable of finding my seat but Daisy has my boarding pass and walks off. I follow her.

2. Daisy wants to show me how to work the seat. I am perfectly capable of working the seat. Daisy offers me a drink, so I ask for iced water, which she brings.

I put on my headphones.

3. Hyunsuk comes along. I remove my headphones.

Hyunsuk offers me some slippers. It's a 2 hour daylight flight. I don't want any slippers, so politely decline.

I put my headphones back on.

4. Louise comes along. I remove my headphones.

Louise wants to offer me a magazine. I don't want a magazine. I am listening to my iPhone. I politely decline.

I put my headphones back on.

5. Hyunsuk comes back. I remove my headphones.

Hyunsuk offers me a newspaper. I don't want a newspaper. I am listening to my iPhone. I politely decline.

I put my headphones back on.

6. Hyunsuk is back. I remove my headphones.

Hyunsuk offers me some dates. I don't like dates. I don't want dates. I politely decline.

I put my headphones back on.

7. Hykau comes along. I remove my headphones.

Hykau offers me some Arabic coffee. Deep down, Hykau knows I don't want arabic coffee because he's only carrying two little cups. If he thought anyone in the cabin wanted Arabic coffee, he'd have more cups. Anyway, I don't want Arabic coffee, so I politely decline.

I put my headphones back on.

8. Vonita comes along. I remove my headphones.

Vonita offers me a menu. Didn't Vonita read AFF and see that I had Eggs Benedict in the FLounge? I'm not going to eat again, so I politely decline.

I put my headphones back on.

9. Hyunsuk is back. I remove my headphones.

Hyunsuk offers me some arrival documents. I take them and thank her.

I put my headphones back on.

10. Louise is back. I remove my headphones.

Louise offers me a hot towel. It's 9am. I've been in air conditioning since 7am. I don't need a hot towel. I politely decline.

I put my headphones back on.

11. Hyunsuk is back. Before I can take off my headphones, she takes my drink and presses the little button to close the mini-bar.

12. Hyunsuk is back again. Before I can take off my headphones, she takes away the basket of nibbles.

13. We take off, seatbelt sign goes off and I press the button to close the doors.

Bliss.

Dear Emirates,

Why do you keep interrupting me? Your current service makes me feel like I'm on the end of a production line.

Please...

1. Approach me at my seat, once, and say:

• Here's your immigration cards
• Would you like a newspaper, magazine, coffee, drink, menu, hot towel, slippers, shower, massage, manicure, etc?

2. Combine activities at my seat! e.g. if you are going to take my drink, take everything else you need to take

3. Leave me alone!

Great post Russ, I agree with you on this. It would be nice if they could do it all at once, or at least in fewer interruptions.
