Morning all

When looking at the AUS-Asia chart only CX is available. The chart says AUS to HKG only so I assume you can not fly say SYD-HKG-BKK.
Can someone confirm this either way please? If doable then makes for good value rewards to Asia.

Yes zoom that is correct.
I've used AS miles (points) on CX - CNS/HKG/CNS in J (sector not available any more), also used HKG/JFK/HKG really a bargain, finding J flights on these routes can be fun though. Im concerned using HKG now due to problems there though.

I found MELxHKG-SFO last year on the QF site. Called, fed them the details and was also able to add-on SFO-SEA for no charge. There is some talk though that it can depend on whether you get an AS or VS agent.

Yes correct with CX have to find seats elsewhere then book with AS. We did CNS/HKG/ stop HKG/JFK/ stop JFK/HKG stop and HKG/CNS in J, took some time in finding the award flights..

Alaska has a hell of a discount deal at the moment.

Under the promotion, you could fly from New York to LA to Sydney to Perth (with a stopover in either LA or Sydney) for a paltry 42.5K in Business.

How can you get over to Perth? Wouldn't you need to use more than AS + FJ to get there?

Yes, I think you may be right and my post may not be correct. You can certainly add AS into the deal at the US end (e.g. SNA-SEA-NAN-SYD) for the 40K special but it doesn't look like you can add QF in for this deal. I was confident that earlier in the week I'd seen QF flights for the 40K between LAX and SYD for example, but I can't replicate that now. The additional upside in taking FJ is you'll get the free stopover in NAN but, yes, PER seems out.
