Alaska Airlines joining Oneworld

Obviously Covid got in the way of the early days of AS within OW but any recent experiences of status PAX flying AS and what to expect/not to expect? eg SYD+1 and I are both QF WPs potentially flying them next year SEA-JFK//JFK-SAN. Do we get free checked bags? Preferred seating? I assume First/Business checkin, lounge access and priority boarding work the same as AA?

I'm also looking at AA but for our itinery, AS is convenient as non-stops (albeit both very long flights and probably in whY  - the "F" fares on AS and AA are nowhere near the value they used to be back in the YUPP glory days).

I was on the AA overnight flight to DFW from ANC on the 4th. As AA doesn't have a lounge in ANC (with 3 flights daily on a seasonal basis), I went to the AS lounge. First time I've been to an AS lounge as they weren't part of oneworld during my last trip.

I had a J seat and oneworld emerald via QF.
Normally, for a domestic 2 class service, AA/AS doesn't allow access to the lounges (other then paid lounge membership), however with status via a non North American oneworld member, I had access.
The lounge agent scanned my boarding pass, but the status didn't come up in their system (even though it was printed on the boarding pass) and confirmed status in the QF app.
She saw that I was connecting onto Canada and looked through the oneworld lounge rules getting confused.
The agent then said that she was leaning towards letting me in, but wanted to check with her boss first. Couldn't find the boss (with 5 seconds of glancing around the corner), then let me in anyway.

I guess the AS staff are still trying to wrap their heads around the oneworld rules?

Prolly more an issue of trying to wrap their dead’s around non-US rules? AA membership won’t get you in, and i guess that’s the bulk of their clients?

Same as when AA 'merged with' US Airways (Star Alliance) - took ages for agents at what were previously USAir's lounge to recognise QF status.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

Reminds me of Alaska Airways experience last year. Even with one world emerald status, had to pay for baggage (pay or miss the flight) FAT - LAX connecting me QF to SYD. Eventually was refunded the charge but was a needless time waster. Takes a while for status core to settle!!!
