Maybe related to the virgin TT tie up?

Weird day to release new route info (unless trying to hide it?).

I read the news on the 22 December, maybe some websites as faster than others with the news.

Interesting to see if QF will codeshare on this. I see their existing codeshare flights are still in the system but have been all zeroed out...

Does this mean more competition? With the codeshare mentioned it doesn't sound like it. I find prices to Norfolk hard to justify.

Air NZ wins Norfolk Island bid | Travel Weekly

Air New Zealand has won the tender to operate services to Norfolk Island and will start twice weekly flights from Sydney and Brisbane on March 2.
The flights will complement its existing weekly flight from Auckland to Norfolk Island.
The decision spells the end for Norfolk Air which will operate its last flight on March 1.

QF can't continue to sell them if the operating carrier is not continuing. Norfolk Air will go under as an airline, Our Airline will now have to use that 733 elsewhere. QF won't codeshare on a competitor........

The prices are high because Norfolk Air has a lot of costs to cover but don't expect the prices to suddenly drop. And the new schedule is serving two less ports than Norfolk Air did and the frequency of services is less. Yeah thats great for tourism.

yeah, that's what I meant- the flights on Norfolk Air are obviously no longer operating. I'd be very surprised if QF no longer offered a codeshare though. Even though NZ is a competitor, so is e.g., SA (also VN, OZ, etc).

Well considering how close they are to DJ now.........codeshare won't happen. If anyone is going to codeshare on the service, it will be DJ.

First they will have to do something about the price. $500 is a lot for BNE- NLK return.

Re: Air NZ takes over all Norfolk Island Flights.

I dont think they will be cheap these days given the loss of duty free.
