Hi guys, I'm an invited speaker at a conference in Dunedin in May and the organisers are currently booking my SYD-DUD tickets. My preference was for VA SYD-BNE-DUD-BNE-SYD (for the 'usual' reasons).
However, NZ has a sale on at the moment so VA flights using NZ have become cheaper (whereas the all-VA metal was previously cheapest). The cheaper VA flights on NZ metal would I think give me luggage, but I'd have to forego points and SCs on the NZ domestic legs (so they are out of the equation - I know that makes me a bad person).
It's (slightly) cheaper to do it on NZ, and much, much cheaper on a Seat-only fare. This research centre is struggling (like we all are), so I'm happy to help them out by going on whatever's cheapest (to a point! But on a NZ booking I would at least score SCs on both legs), but I do need luggage.
Does the Trans-Tasman deal make a NZ Seat-only like VA Saver Lites for VA golds, i.e. will I get a luggage allowance? Do VA Golds get any benefits apart from lounge access on NZ?
