Can someone with some experience in booking/flying with Air Asia X tell me how to find their sale fares?

They currently have a sale AU$149 each way MEL/PER to KUL but I cannot for the life of me find these fares from any city during the travel period specified.

The sale TCs advise the fares are not available during the 'embargo' period which also cannot be found anywhere.

(FYI I wish to fly return from MEL to KUL mid Sept)

Their sale fares sell out fairly quickly. I got some $99 sale fares for february a while back from MEL-KUL return and i got them by going through all the dates for february and seeing which ones show up.

If you cant find them, they will generally be sold out.

Air Asia currently have a great fare sale from KUL to AUH (Abu Dhabi) for 99 MYR each way including all taxes. Plenty of availability for next year, too.

I've just booked a KUL-AUH-KUL trip for Mach-June, for approx AUD 85 all-in, which is quite good I think.

Hi there

Me too, I was going to do a few SE Asia flights on the way back from STN to MEL, but decided AUH was too good an offer.

Yes, it's great, isn't it.

I've tied mine in with a * award, AUH-DUB-IST-AUH (35,000 miles).

nice going...

All the best.

Yes good deal but the problem is getting OUT of Australia!!

The current sale (AU$149) for travel Sept-Nov after searching EVERY day for the 3 month period I found ONE date at $149.

The trick with Air Asia is to subscribe to the deals, flew with the family Perth to KL then to Langkawi for around $300 each return.

Next month off to London with them for $800 return. I should have paid the extra for the XL seats though..

Tip.. give the inflight catering a miss as it is really bad.

Hi There

It would be good if Air Asia flew to Frankfurt (Hahn) from KUL.
Jump on to Ryanair from there to STN or just about anywhere else in Europe.
Solves Gordon Browns departure tax rip off.

Why not do what I did? Fly AUH to DUB then on to LPL, MAN or wherever. That'll stick it up him.

Use Cheap flights from Jetstar, Tiger Airways, Air Asia, Virgin Blue, V Australia, Qantas, JetBlue, Virgin America, EvaAir and more and search for Melbourne / Gold Coast / Perth to Kuala Lumpur. The fares are generally easy to get early on in the sale. Managed to get Gold Coast - KL for $150 return a few weeks back, good luck!

damn I'm envious... I paid $160 for my OOL-KUL return... LOL (could have saved another $10) than again I splurged and for another $5 I ended up flying to Langkawi and return from Penang... LOL

I also think ex Melbourne sale fares are harder to get due to the high population of Malaysian and Indonesian students here. When AA first started flying ex MEL sale fares were pretty easy to nab but now not so much...I was online within minutes of the last 'sale' email being received but already there was limited if any return seats left.

You have to be wiling to book first thing in the morning, too. Last two AA sales, I was booking tickets at 7am AEST, as the sale had begun midnight Malaysia time (2am) that morning. By the afternoon, ticket availability had become really spotty.

Fingers crossed that AA solves its dispute with the MY Government and gains approval to fly into Sydney in the near-future. That will shake things up!

Yes very hard to get promo fares as someone said u have 2 search day by day.
AND REMEMBER do everything correctly as Air Asia will not help u fix it. If you talk to anyone get their name and write down time and date as no one will admit to anything. Will give you the run around with emails if you can get any reply.
Sent registered letter no reply. I have confirmed booking for flight that does not exist and cannot get an answer.
WHEN U CALL HERE, SWITCH TO MALAYSIA and u will just hold and hold on.
And if you book wife and self on same E Ticket one will tell you auto seated together other will tell u unless u pay for selection could be separate.
SERVICE IS NON EXISTENT

Also try airasiaplus.com to see 10 days worth of prices.

I've never had trouble getting the airasia sale fares, but that's probably because I'm reasonably flexible and fly out of OOL. As a poor starving student I manage to get to asia 2-3 times every year thanks to these guys :)

Hi there

The cheap KUL-AUH fares are back from $69 one way or about $155 R/T, due to the higher taxes ex UAE, but still a bargain. :)

Check the Air Asia website for details.
