I have a Business Class trip Brisbane to Milan and return coming up. I have been booked on Emirates and this will be my first flight with them. I am a member of QF, Velocity and Air NZ points programmes - my question is: Can I get credit into any of these for these Emirates flights or should I join the Skywards programme? The number of miles and being Business Class would get me Silver immediately with Skywards, but I dont know how often I will be using Emirates in future, so I am thinking that I may be better off (if I can) to get credits into one of my existing programmes. I will be grateful for any advice. Thanks in advance.

Your greatest advantage as a Skywards member is that not only do you earn Miles with Emirates, you also get a range of earning and redemption opportunities with our prestigious global partners. These partners include world-class airlines, hotels, leisure and lifestyle partners, car rental, telecommunications and financial partners.
Partner AirlinesContinental Airlines 1 Skywards Mile per mile flown Japan Airlines 1 Skywards Mile per mile flown Jet Airways 1 Skywards Mile per mile flown Kingfisher Airlines 1 Skywards Mile per mile flown Korean Air 1 Skywards Mile per mile flown South African Airways 1 Skywards Mile per mile flown United Airlines 1 Skywards Mile per mile flown Virgin Blue '

Emirates also fly to NZ and can redeem points for a flight to Auckland.

The Emirates scheme is a pretty generous one and I would suggest joining skywards.

Once signed up for Skywards, do make sure to sign up for the miles accellerator bonuses since there may be some worthwhile bonuses on the route you are flying on

e.g. for bookings this month for Milan, there is a 4000 bonus for the BNE-DXB on EK435 plus 3000 for EK91 to MXP plus 2000 for MXP-DXB on EK94. Total of 9000 bonus on top of regular earnings giving 31,500 points. 25,000 can be used for an upgrade r/t to NZ if you go there at some time and 25k can be used to upgrade to Asia plus, of course, upgrades can be confirmed at time of booking subject to D class availability

I believe there is still a promo u can sign up for to give 3,000 bonus for 1st flight taken
