Hi there, I am new to the forum, so thanks for letting me join!
I am after a little advice. I have been a very loyal Qantas FF with various levels of membership for over 25 years. I have been a Qantas Club member for 21 of those years (more than half my life!) and I feel that my loyalty is very much misplaced. I am waiting for someone to get back to me over a complaint and depending on the outcome, I may move to VA. Can I get other FF opinions on the VA experience from the flight to the lounge?

Thanks!

Welcome aboard!

You'll find proponents and detractors of both airlines here. Personally I think that both airlines do different things rather well.

What are you looking for from an airline?

Welcome to AFF Katie Cran-O'Hagan!

Everybody's experiences are different but one thing is certain. The grass is definitely not greener on the other side. In Australia the race is on to see who gets to the bottom first.

Welcome to AFF Katie,

I'm with QF and +1 is with VA so we play in both camps.
Whichever side you bat for there will be disappointments as each have their pros and cons.

Welcome aboard Katie Cran-O'Hagan, from what I read here on AFF I also believe that the grass isn't greener on either side. By spending time here (AFF) you will learn more about both programs and how to get what you want from them. Sorry my answer doesn't really answer your question.

Welcome Katie Cran-O'Hagan,

I echo the above comments and Welcome!

If this is your real name may I suggest choosing another as your ID..

Additionally and Qantas Club membership is not a sign of your loyalty to the airline.

There is nothing inherently wrong with not chasing airline status. For many "best fare of day" is the best way to go!!. Give your business to the airline who can give you the best value on the day. Value does not mean cheapest.

Welcome!

Having been a Qantas frequent flyer member for over 25 years, are you far off Lifetime Gold? If so, it may be worth keeping with Qantas until you reach it.

I mostly fly Qantas, but do give Virgin a go every now and again. Honestly, I think that Qantas is superior to Virgin in almost every way. IMHO Qantas has better lounges & better in-flight service in both classes. For a while, VA had an edge in terms of having a better frequent flyer program, but they have made a range of decisions lately that has devalued the program.

My advice would be to fly VA yourself (perhaps just 2 or 3 times, including at least one visit to the lounge - you can get in if you fly business or purchase a one-time pass for $65) and make up your own mind. :)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
