Need some assistance from the more experienced here. Going to go for Platinum this year and try to take advantage of the double SC from QF at present. Another member suggested a status run which sounds ok. I looked at doing SYD-MEL-ASP-SYD as an examples but points plus pay in J class is rather high. I know you can get SC on ASA bookings but how does this effect if its Red deal, Flex etc. The highest SC are on J class but seems to me to be quite expensive points of dollars?
Open to suggestions how to maximise but not cost a packet and use too many points , what is the formula to success?

The best-yielding business class ASAs have been reported as CBR-xSYD-HBA and TSV-xBNE-DRW and I don't think anything's changed there. Have you been through this thread as it's aimed precisely at your category of question:

http://www.australianfrequentflyer....gram/best-status-run-options-quick-35258.html

Book the business ASAs at close to the classic level (tips in http://www.australianfrequentflyer....uent-flyer-program/how-do-i-book-j-29610.html) to make it worthwhile and they will earn business class SCs. Use the slider to bring the points to the minimum so you're paying a combination of points and cash for best value.

In the end what works for you will depend on exactly how many SCs you need to earn platinum.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Those runs are going to get hard to do now as the promo nears an end!

Maybe you're confusing the terminology but Points plus Pay is different to an ASA. Just make sure you are looking at the right thing.
