Hi knowledgeable folks. My son is travelling (Y) without his WP father to Stockholm via LHR next week. I was keen to try and get him into the T5 lounge so that he could have a shower (no showers for ordinary folk at LHR!). The Qantas Service centre tell me that the complimentary passes that are sent out (eg for attaining Silver status) ONLY allow access to lounges in Australia. Is that true?

I think the complimentary passes can only be used at Qantas run lounges, not partner airline lounges.

I once tried to use it at the Cathay lounge in HK and was denied access. Qantas does not have a lounge in LHR - they are BA operated lounges.

The passes can only be used at Qantas Club lounges, and T5 is all BA lounges. It should say something to that effect on the pass.

from my research getting access to the T5 lounges will be a no-go

I think he would have to try another terminal, and buy a single use lounge pass

or possibly the Yotel there?

How long is the stopover?

Why does he need a shower, where will he be arriving from?

I was thinking if he was travelling as a UM he would be looked after, but if there are no showers, then he’s not going to get one as a UM either. Hmm…

Thanks all for the ongoing interest. He is en route (3 hours LHR) to Stockholm from Melbourne (QF29 - 24hours, 35 minutes). He is going to visit his partner (so no, he's not an UM!) I just thought it would be nice for him to have the opportunity to clean up - I suppose it's just that I have been spoilt over the years.

T5 is BA only isn't it? Hence complimentary QP passes wouldn't get you in, only status or class of service.

Fly - The Qantas Club - Lounge Locations - UK/Europe

Also, the QF departures from T3 don't provide much comfort, since it appears they are associated (BA) lounges, rather than 'Qantas' co-branded/operated lounges, so it appears he can't use them on the way back either. :(

If he's transferring from T3 to T5, I imagine most of that 3 hours could be eaten up by the terminal transfer.

Unfortunate, but hope he has a lovely trip in any case. :)
