I was just looking for some suggestions.

I have the option of flying AA or Alaskan from SFO to LAX in whY. Both are the same price and I will have flown AA a few times so I thought that Alaskan might be nice for a change. If it's Alaskan, it would be on an AA codeshare.

Two of the cons I can think of is not being able to preselect seating (I think) and possibly not having access to a lounge as either a QP member of AA Plat.

What do you suggest?

Cheers,

littl_flier,

Either way works for me on a short leg like this. Remember the AA domestic lounges aren't over the top wonderful. :p

:D Very true Straitman. And I think I'll probably want watch the whole VDB/Satndby zoo take place that I hear so much about. Might make for some interesting entertainment.

But it would be nice to have a backup and retreat to the lounge. ;)

Just make sure the baggage allowance isn't any drama.

Can't think of anything else to keep in mind, unless you were connecting/coming from another flight. In that case, other things such as terminal numbers come into play.

It is whY.So why do you need to experience it on another airline? It was no great shakes though you do get a free snack-which went uneaten after the first sector.Alaskan can be a zoo and overhead storage goes quickly-everyone who gets on first stacks their carryons in the first bin they pass so you need to be amongst the first to board.I got away with it by flashing my QP card which was not recognised by gate agents so i got on.QFF plats do get priority boarding so just be amongst the first to board if you take that option. Also security lines for AS at LAX were the longest i have been in.

Hmm, thanks for the advice drron.

:D Very true. 32" is 32" on another aircraft in whY I guess. I was mainly looking at getting away from the AA MD80's for a change.

Thanks Mal. I'm spending a few days in SEA and then have to get to LAX to make a connection on the Saturday morning. I have a mate who's living in SFO at the moment so the plan is to fly SEA-SFO first thing on Friday morning (AS the only option here), spend the day in San Fran and then fly SFO-LAX late that night. There's nothing between a 4:15pm AA flight and a 8:55pm AA flight except for AS at 8:08pm.

I will have a bag actually, though it'll be carry-on size. To save carrying it around San Fran though, do you think AS/AA would let me check it if I arrive in SFO at 8:30am and leave at 8:55pm?

TBH, I'm starting to swing away from the AS option though to maximise time in San Fran.

having recently flown AS on the SFO - LAX route and not remembering any particular detail of the actual flight experience, must mean it was either a) uneventful or b) the same like any other 1hr whY flight......

Personally I would prefer the AA MD80 over the AS 737-400 which normally services that route.

Yes, and MD80 seating is 2x3 while the 734 is 3x3. So try for the A/B seats on the MD80. And if flying AA as a QP member you get AAdmirals club lounge access plus drinks vouchers.

What is wrong with trying something different, but if you are flying AS from SEA-SFO. WN Southwest Airlines and VX Virgin America both fly this route.

The airline is called Alaska Airlines no "n"
