Out of PER to SYD and on to YVR tomorrow morning for our white Christmas and and big bang NYE in SYD on the way home.

Air route.JPG

Arrive YVR Monday afternoon. Two nights there before driving over two days to Lake Louise. Taking the route via Whistler for a quick look and with an overnight stop in Kamloops. Arriving at the Fairmont Lake Louise on Xmas eve. Four night there, then through to YYC on 28 Dec, drop the car, a quick AC flight back to YVR and onto the QF bird back to arrive in SYD early 30 Dec.

I've done that in dry season.... Great drive...... I stayed whistler and then drive to Jasper..... Long drive and pulled over by police at end due probably due to rental plates.....
Met Aussie workers in lake Louise. Coming down that hill with Rockie train on left looked amazing..... What car you driving?

I don't understand the negative before the temperatures.... something must be wrong with my screen :)

Really looking forward to reading your report.
Your posted view of Lake Louise prompted me to review a photo from our trip in early May 1998-same background but zoomed in

I've travelled extensively in the region in summer but this will be the first for winter. Ordered a Jeep Cherokee or equivalent.

After seeing the guy on the far right, I'll just quickly phone PJM and tell her to pack her shorts before our airport taxi service of her daughter and SIL arrives to pick her up :p.

I have a feeling that our paths may finally cross on NYE...have a good, safe trip!

Since you've been to the Rockies before I'm guessing you have a good idea of what you want to see/do, JohnM, but the glass Skywalk is a recently opened attraction on the Icelands Parkway you may not be familiar with. It's close to the Glacier tour and an exhilarating experience (but not for the faint hearted).
