Today is such a tragic day. I am personally so affected ( terribly affected and I know I am not the only one on AFF) due to the aftermath of those events. We as a community cannot forget this supreme evil.
"We cannot give in to those who would divide us."

I cannot forget those who suffered from these attacks. My memories are with those that died that day especially those who had to jump from the twin towers to escape the hell they were in.

We will never forget !!
God Bless America

short history

The attacks (also referred to as 9/11) were a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda on the United States on the morning of September 11, 2001.
The attacks killed 2,996 people and injured over
6,000 others and caused
at least $10 billion in property and infrastructure damage and $3 trillion in total costs.
4 planes were hijacked.

I will Never forget!

I was down at the memorial pools last week with my family, that place never fails to hit home just what happened 15 years ago and changed the world forever.
For anyone who hasn't had the chance, there are some great docos on youtube that capture the view of the firefighters who were heros on that day, I spent the day rewatching them.

Some thoughts from Lee Tulloch that reflect on the consequences of 9/11 from the point of view of others affected.

My personal reflection is about the aftermath, which is ongoing, in refugee camps and destroyed cities elsewhere. On other shores, hundreds of thousands of people died and many are still dying from 9/11's consequences.

How will we mourn them?

For those in LOTFAP there's a 2 hour CNN special on at 8PM eastern (in 5 minutes the broadcast starts) about the 15 year anniversary.

I was in NYC today. Fairly quiet on the streets but it is a Sunday. Didn't go near the WTC area, and the only thing different I saw were the flags flying half mast.

I visited the memorial and museum just under 2 weeks ago. They have really done a fantastic job of remembering those who does. The pools a fantastic. Simple but beautiful and having the names of everyone who died inscribed on the perimeter is a nice touch. The museum is excellent as well. Gives a thorough narrative of the events of the day as well as the background to it.

We visited the site and museum last July. Good to show the teens who were babies when it happened. Seeing the actual site and the artefacts in the museum made it so much more real for them.

Freedom is not given, one has to to fight for it. There are those who want to take it away from us.

A near identical angle to your first photo BAM1748 - only 21yrs later (and from inside the glass) - you can just see the top half of the wide building in my photo
