I did search but the results were about the best seats on the 747 refurb or the 4 class operating on 3 class route.

I'm on QF11 SYD-LAX on 17/04 in Y... Unfortunately haven't been able to upgrade due to the deep discount bucket i'm booked in. I had pre-selected 80A on the A380 so I was ok with that.

Logged onto MMB this morning and noticed i've been moved to 40A... looks like an aircraft sub to a 747...

I think I'm on the 14P/52J/32PY/255Y config: http://www.qantas.com.au/infodetail/flying/inTheAir/ourAircraft/744-14P52J32PY255Y.pdf

Checking expert flyer it looks like i'm the only person in row 40 at the moment...

SeatGuru tells me row 40 has extra legroom but interested if anyone has any feedback on these seats(I'm 183cm and like to be able to stretch my legs) or if i should be looking for something different?

Also thinking that maybe I'm the only WP on in Y on the flight since no other row 40 seats have been allocated... that coupled with a light load in J so far makes it frustrating I couldn't get an upgrade request...

Oh how I miss row 40 on this old config. There's a cutout that gives you plenty of legroom (I'm 5'11), no bassinets and a mini-cabin that has a nice private feel. 40G was my seat of choice - 40 HJK were curtained-off crew rest, so no one across the aisle to bother you. That does make it a bit dark and cave-like, but I quite like that. I don't remember any problems with recline, but if there were the legroom more than made up for it.

This is VH-OJQ in September last year, which has since been put out to pasture.

Ahhh thanks for responding and supplying the photo, much appreciated. I like the window seat to lean on so might stick with 40A.

Looks like GFED have no seats behind or in front, not bad... interesting way to layout a plan though, makes you wonder why they didn't just stick another row of PE in there instead...

I assume this plane has the SkyBed MK1 in J so not so upset I couldn't ugprade now. Although knowing my luck I'll end up with a aircraft change back to the 380 and miss out on 80A/K...

Row 40 feels like you are in a mini cabin. Personally my preference is 40G and it is great when there is no one seated next to you.
