Arriving from YVR on UA5547 which lands at 4.52pm then on to UA839 which departs at 10.50pm to SYD.

No lounge access for us so I was hoping to go to the Travelodge for a quick shower then return to LAX.

Is 6 hours long enough to do this? Cheers.

Should be plenty of time. You might even fit in an In'n'out burger as well :)

YVR has pre-clearance (well it did when I flew out of there ~18 months ago)? In which case clearance on arrival not required and bag-check through should work.

ie. you "enter" the US after passing security screening at YVR.

YYC had it today so I would be amazed if YVR did not - makes entering US a soda - RooFlyer don't be afraid to bark up. :D

The Travelodge day rate has an 8pm checkout, so it will have to be a quick stop. It's the latest checkout that I can find at LAX.

Yes, no doubt USA pre-clearance at YVR. So when you land at LAX you just walk out onto the kerb. Allowing for a bit of a delay in arriving and an hour for re-entry security and being at departure gate for boarding again, you'll have maybe 5.5 hrs to kick around.

In addition to the shower at the Travelodge, you might do an In-n-Out burger as Opusman suggests and/or a couple of other things locally, as noted in this handy guide. (Note that LAX as a place to wait for your flight has improved out of sight since this was written!)

the https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Attr...ing_Center_Museum-Los_Angeles_California.html flight path learning centre museum sounds interesting

Sneak In and sit by the pool at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott. Free shuttle and free swimming, free towels lol or just hang out in progressive hotel lobbies

the Courtyard Los Angeles LAX is the one of four Marrootts where late check-out can be had ?

I concur there's enough time.
I also had a LAX arrival of 5 pm and a 10 pm departure - had time to recheck my bags, head out to Venice Beach for dinner and a bit of time on the sand, return to the airport and get some lounge time.

yes, there's time. As an alternative to the normal places you can go for a walk down to the nearby beach, or get a $5 bus from an airport hotel to Manhattan Beach.

Rooflyer's old thread is full of good options.

I wouldn't recommend Santa Monica for anything less than a full day stopover as traffic can be horrendous in the evening and you don't want to be stressing about time.

Manhattan Beach is my recommended "beyond In-N-Out" destination for most folks.

It's a cheap Uber ride away, great beach without the 'trash' that you find at Venice, easier to get to compared with Santa Monica, and a very upmarket lunch/dining area that's popular with locals. There's also Manhattan Village shopping mall - which isn't as extensive as Culver City Westfield, but there is a Macy's and an Apple Store and a Sephora etc etc.

Don't forget that TBIT is now a modern airport terminal with some decent bars/restaurants/shops in there and you can access it from Terminals 4-8 without going landside.

How much time do you recommend for travelling between Westfield culver city and LAX terminal airside

Middle of the day - Once you get inside the Uber - 20 mins to T1. (Assuming no traffic on Sepulveda, and assuming no traffic in the Central Terminal Area). Remember LAX traffic is heavy in the afternoon and evening, that's another 20 mins alone. Sepulveda traffic from Culver City in evening rush hour could add another 20 mins easily. Take a wrong turn out of Westfield at 5pm and you could literally be stuck for 30 mins before you move.

PLUS - TSA time - say 20 mins.

Best case - 30-40 mins to get airside from Westfield.
Worst case - easily double that.

Sorry for late reply. Yes, we did clear customs at YVR, very quiet and friendly too I must add.

Waited ages for the Travelodge shuttle so didn't want to push it for In n Out burger Travelodge near and clean for a quick shower between flights.
