Hi Dean and welcome. Who are you flying with, is it a Business or First ticket or do you have airline status?

Thanks for the replies and welcome,
going Jetstar both ways ,so in cattle class ,I don't have any status points with Qantas ,only FF points,so will probably find a pay at the time lounge.
Will have about 5 hrs in transit with the wife spare going across(so she will shop) ,but coming home on my own ,as the wife will spend more time with her sister traveling.
I did think about joining the Qantas club, but I don't fly enough,if I did join ,would that give me access to lounges in Singapore?

thanks for the help so far
regards
Dean

Yes it would give you access but that's an expensive way to get into a lounge, though probably cheaper than your wife going shopping!;)

Theres a pay per use lounge, never used it myself.

Or you can go to T1, book min 6hr Transit Hotel to shower and nap and use the pool if its back in action (anyone checked out the pool lately?).

Some of the massage places include a shower, I like the massage place at T1.

Belated welcome to Dean351!

In SIN you can pay to have a shower. Spend the rest of the time enjoying the terminal people watching.

Dean plenty to do in SIN if you just want to stay in Terminal and not head into town or outside to eat. All 3 Terminals have ST hotels if you want - you can buy Lounge access and have a shower in ALL 3 Terminals. If you have PP you can check PP site and enter any of their applicable lounges.

T1 has Cactus Garden and pool - there is an hour or 2 for you to explore and play - T2 has Sunflower Garden - there is 5 mins for you to explore - T3 has Butterfly Garden - this is cool I love to wander through here (when I say cool - I mean interesting - indeed it is warm in there). Shopping is pretty good and varied - your wife will love it.

Plenty food varieties across all 3 Terminals - for a Grown Up's hour or so I really enjoy Hard Rock Café in T3 - frozen Margaritas here are really good and the food here best in whole of Changi IMHO - western food that is.

Because its booze related I didn't pay attention when my boss was telling me but does the Long Bar at T3 still have free Singapore Sling tasters?

I was in there yesterday but did not venture upstairs so cannot answer that Denali

Wow ,thanks for all the help, might do one of the lounges for a shower and food.
appreciate all the help

TBH, I think you would get far better value for money out of one of the many food outlets in the airport. Or even venturing to the not so secret staff canteen.

Or go to Changi prison. It's really quite nearby and easy to get to. Interesting part of our war history.

Dean don't be mistaken in thinking any of the paid or PP lounges will offer satisfactory food options - almost non existent. If you don't want pay for 'Lounge Access' which includes shower and very limited food and beverage offerings you can just pay for shower alone and graze / drink outside - the lounges should let you check them out prior to paying if that helps with decision making.

What the lounges do offer is reasonable seating and security of HL - once you have paid to go in staff will keep an eye on your HL rather than need to cart it around with you if you want to wander the other terminals.

There's places you can store hand luggage that aren't very expensive without going through immigration.

Another way to seek lounge access is to buy a couple of single entry passes to the Qantas lounge - they're often for sale on eBay. The QF lounge has a couple of freshly cooked choices and a buffet - there's far more variety out in the terminal though. QF lounge showers are good!

Also watch the opening hours of the QF lounge - it doesn't open until 2:30pm.

The buying and selling of Qantas Club passes on Ebay is technically not allowed, so be careful. There is definitely a risk of not getting the pass or having it cancelled by Qantas....

If you want to use the Qantas Club, you can (legitimately) get some passes with certain credit cards. Alternatively, add your flight details to the relevant thread in the "lounge meetups" forum and an AFF member may be able to guest you in if they are flying on the same day.

I thought that restriction was just trading in points? There's no unique identifier on the lounge passes so hard to see how Qantas could cancel them and I can't see how selling them on eBay is any different to giving them away on AFF.

Your point about getting free passes with a credit card is a good one and this may be a more prudent way of acquiring the passes particularly given how many points they're giving away these days....
