A good move, no more transfer desk waits for me!

Back to the future?
I recall being able to do that before they had the transfer desk.

It's only for SIN to KUL, BKK, HKT, HKG, and, interestingly, RGN. And I guess this requirement would be throwing a spanner into the plans of most pax:
"Passengers with no visa or other entry requirements (e.g. proof of return or onward travel)"
So it's either you've got an onward/return ticket on the same PRN, or you're using a passport of the destination country.

Only to KUL in Malaysia? If you can do that for KUL, you could certainly do it for PEN as well.

I think they just started it with a few major destinations. Although I would imagine that if they can do RGN, they can pretty much do the same for the rest of the world (no offense).

I've never had 3K asking for proof of onward or return travel .... at least to either KUL, CGK or BKK. I often am asked on various carriers for flights back to SIN for onward travel or to see Proof that I live there.

More destinations have been added:

Singapore to Kuala Lumpur
Singapore to Bangkok
Singapore to coughet
Singapore to Hong Kong
Singapore to Yangon
Singapore to Jakarta
Singapore to Hangzhou
Singapore to Bali (Denpasar)
Singapore to Siem Reap
Singapore to Medan
Singapore to Surabaya

So I guess if the computer is smart enough to work out what nationalities need a visa it can also work out that if you need 6 months validity on your passport & you only have 5 that you're not able to travel?

Maybe it's a case of if you *think* you don't need a visa it will still check you in then you get denied entry on arrival to that country.

I wouldn't mind betting 3K will cop a few fines for visa infringements.

3Ks APIS info is actually more comprehensive than QFs, so all the info is already on file.

Tried this out today. . It collects your residence details for the destination country and if you don't have a passport of that Country gives you a boarding pass stating that the document check is still required

Is it a proper boarding pass (with a comment about document check required) that would get you through Customs or into a lounge or just a 'too bad so sad' ser airport staff for further assistance type comment?

It still doesn't sound totally foolproof to me from an airline perspective. What if an Australian passport holder who had only 3 months validity left incorrectly entered country of residence as Malaysia when flying SIN/KUL?

Does the 3K system automatically assume that all the details provided by the pax are bonafide ie in above case the errant Aussie who the system thinks is a Malaysian & thereby not make a note re the document check?

If it does then 3K would receive a nasty fine because the Australian who presents themselves at Customs with a passport expiring within 6 months would be denied entry & sent back to SIN.

The only way I see it working without checkin people is airport kiosks when they can scan the actual pasdport but they cost money & OLCI does not.

Yep it is a proper boarding pass with space for stamp after document check.
