The artist impression must be just that - a simple impression, right? I mean, only two aerobridges?

Article says "with four aerobridges and improved ground transport facilities."

I read it as two sets of dual aerobridges - so really only room/gates for 2 large B787/A330 sized aircraft. As I understand it - does 3 levels in the international area mean separate departure and arrival areas (plus baggage handling services at ground level)? They do seem to have quite a bit of empty room to the south of the existing terminal.

Stage 1 redevelopment provides two aero bridges and Stage 2 provides a further two to bring the total to four.

The bottom line, I guess, is that there'll be plenty of bays serviced with stairs and only a few (maybe only the international operations) with jetbridges.

That doesn't sound like a huge amount of future growth if it is just based on four jetbridges, unless the airport will make the airlines bid off each other for use of the jetbridges versus stairs. Then again, I guess they just can't go all out on the expansion to lots of jetbridges even if they wanted to, since such construction would significantly disrupt the current operation.

Low cost carriers like JQ and TT dont want or need airbridges and they are the major users
