I'm travelling to Griffith (NSW) tomorrow so looking at booking a motel room for the night.

I came across this room on Agoda for $3. Now, it does say "Extra low price!" but so does the other room type, which costs $125 (that's about what I'd expect to pay).

Should I book the $3 room and hope for the best? Or would the motel probably just cancel on me and/or try to charge me the difference? I think it's quite obviously a mistake!

Well, it has been reduced from $12.00. 😀

I'd book both rooms. You've only wasted $3 then and you will know at least you have a "decent" room to sleep in

Why not book and pay in advance for the $3 room so you have a booked confirmed and "paid for" receipt when you arrive at the hotel.

Surely they cannot deny you access and it will be a dispute between the OTA and the hotel, not your problem?

Worst case scenario is you turn up the room is still there waiting for you and you have to pay the difference and lodge a complaint with the OTA.

Just to follow-up on this, I ended up booking a different motel which better suited my needs anyway. The $3 room rate on Agoda and Booking.com would have been for a "pay at the hotel" booking, and I don't imagine they would have been too happy if I'd turned up expecting to pay $3!

I did send them an email to enquire if that price was genuine (which was really just intended to alert them to it). I never got a reply, but see that particular room is now listed on the various online booking portals for $130.

I still have no idea how a $130/night room was listed as $3 in the first place!

Out of interest, where did you stay?

So, you did the right thing by alerting them, and they didn’t even have the courtesy of getting back to you? I wouldn’t stay there either, regardless of the price.
