Mrs C and i are actually in the same city in the same time frame

The challenge

Which sydney restaurants should we eat in that we can actually get into on such short notice?

price isn't really that much of an issue , as it seems i have a large amount of credit on my meal entertainment card

Staying at the hilton

Starting from a Monday your options are much more promising than if it were going to be say Thurs Fri Sat. Bar the most difficult establishments - Quay, Momofuku and Tetsuya's in particular - I dare say you'd have your pick of venues. Of those hatted and within walking distance of the Hilton I've enjoyed meals at Aria, Guillaume, Bridge Room, both Rockpools, Est, Pendolino, Sake, Sepia, Arras and Bistrode CBD. Bit further afield Black by Ezard, China Doll, Lucio's, Otto, Bistro Moncur, Longrain, Neild Avenue and North Bondi Italian are also excellent, with the last four not taking bookings in any event.

We go to easy places to get 2 seats so we walk to Aria, Sydney Cafe and the Intercontinental first floor smorgasbord which takes the Priority Privilege 50% off card.
We go to finer dining with friends and eastflyer has listed the better ones.
Our next visit is for Carmen and because Sydney weather can be wild we allow spare days to see the show if our booked night is rained out.

Week nights are relatively simple to get a reservation these days. Quay and Tetsuya's maybe problematic, but recent visits to both have disappointed so I honestly wouldn't bother.

Best dishes of late would be the Cape Grim grass fed fillet at Rockpool Bar and Grill, entree pumpkin lasagna at Pendolino and the prawn shumai and green tea kit kat dessert at Sake.

Enjoy your dinners!

And for good Greek Medusa is not far away. Not nearly as upmarket as the other suggestions but the lamb is great.Should book or go early as it fills quickly.
