Looking to book two J classic award seats MEL-LHR departing next weekend.

I guess there's no chance of QF releasing seats on QF9/QF1 for WP?

I can see SIN-LHR seats on points for tomorrow on BA, but I need next weekend. Would seats be likely to open up for next weekend closer to departure?

Have you tried VIA HKG on separate booking or multi city?

Can see CX Y+ to HKG on the 12th then BA F to LHR on the 13th

There's no harm in calling to ask if you're WP.

EK sometimes release 2-3 days out too.

I've tried multi-city via HKG. Can see for very last minute but for Thursday/Friday departure this week best I can see if BNE-HKG in J and PE HKG-LHR when I want J/F for both legs. It would also mean leaving MEL Wed night which is too early.

A little bored so I checked 12/13 May in a few combinations from MEL on QF metal. Everything is packed to the gills, I'd be amazed if you got a positive response for a release of seats.

BA16 on 13/5 has some decent availability, there is a chance something might open up there.

It's getting in to peak season as Europe moves in to summer, I wouldn't be counting on anything opening up personally.

Check JAL, EK and CX.

Edit: JL & CX seem packed as well. Maybe look around revenue fares from SE Asia and see what they price up as with a connection. Or look for QR award availability ex-DPS/CGK/BKK/KUL etc.

Doesn't have to be the weekend. Departure from MEL on the evening of the 10th or any time on the 11th would be O.K, 11th would be better of those two.

That would be nice. The best thing I can find so far involves a J flight BNE-SIN (departing middle of the night) followed by a 10 hour wait in Singapore and an economy flight from SIN to HKG followed by F from HKG to LHR.

if you can get F HKG-LHR on points then I would be booking & seeing what a Y revenue fare from BNE-HKG would cost

Have you called QF? I know I hate calling, but if you are WP then do it :)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Given the WP ability to request seats open a quick call (and Plat should have short wait times) seems like a good idea to me for someone so desperate to get there in short order.

Didn't bother with calling. My friends have booked classic rewards seats between Asia and LHR and booked Y seats between Australia and Asia with upgrade requests to J.
