Hi, Due to some last minute flight changes I find that instead of 2 hours sampling the joys of the lounges at SCL I have a little over 24 hours to spend. I arrive on saturday evening and fly out late Sunday night. I've never been outside of the airport in Santiago - does anyone have any suggestions on where to go/what to do for the day?

what are your interests? food, sightseeing, business facilities, sex tours????

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Go on a Spicy Walking Tour, they offer three different walking tours that are free, but depending on how satisfied you are with the tour, you tip the guide as you see fit at the end. You do not need to book in advance, you just turn up at one of their designated meeting points. I went on one which was about 2.5hrs long, explored the City and ended up at the base of Serra San Cristabol mountain. You either walk up, but most people catch the funicular up and you have great views of the City assuming the sky is clear ;) You can also walk up Serra Santa Lucia in the downtown which I found a bit more nicer.

Enjoy an expresso at a Cafe Haiti, known for waitresses with long sexy legs ;)

For drinks or dinner, head to Bellavista. Its a fun place.

Drinks at the W Santiago Hotel for great views of the snow capped Andes Mountains.

Thanks - the walking tour sounds good - where does it start from and do I need to book it up?

Mainly interested in not being cooped up in a hotel for 24 hours :). I guess I'm looking to do some sightseeing, find somewhere to have a nice dinner and drink enough red to ease the pain of the next 18 hours on a plane

All the information and maps are here Spicy Chile – Free Walking Tours in Santiago, Chile.-

Different tours start in different designated points, the website will direct you where the points with maps. You just turn up, no need to book.
Thanks Alan. Might try one in Nov when we are there:).

Thers is a similar one in BsAs which we did 2 years back...highly recommended!

Plenty of good Chilean red wine around. Go for it.

I'd suggest be a little wary of the subway and public buses, as there is quite a bit of petty crime around. And you don't want to be relieved of your prized possessions.
