The offer is quite specific (date and condition wise) and probably won't suit many.

Avis is offering 18,000 Avios if you book a Group C car, or above, for 3 days or more, starting on 8th, 9th or 10th December.

"Rent with Avis, enjoy this December break and enjoy unique benefits for being an Iberia Plus member. Now, if you rent a car for the weekend from the 8th to the 11th December, you will receive 18.000 Bonus Avios on rentals of 3 days or more on a minimum group C vehicle in Spain, United Kingdom, Italy, France, Germany, Portugal, Switzerland, Belgium and Holland ."

It works for me although the price between my booking on AVIS UK and AVIS via Iberia is 60GBP so I'm effective buying the 18 K for 0.55c ea.

I did have some problems with making the booking - the site was up and down - but it's working now.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

So can Iberia plus points be tranferred directly to Executive Club Avios? If so this could be quite useful...

Yes they can be exchanged instantly via Combine My Avios but your IB account needs to have been open for 90 days

That is an exceptional deal if you're able to take advantage of it. 18,000 Avios would be enough for a return QF flight in business class up to 650 miles. I'd probably book CBR-ADL which would cost 48,000 points if booked through Qantas.

Just a shame that I'm not in Europe at the moment!

Lots of people in the UK having fun with this offer - I.e. making a 3 day hire to qualify for GBP50 and leaving the car in a carpark (sometimes even at the hire location) for the 3 days :)

Just booked a 3 day in Germany which I was going to book anyway, and pricing was actually cheaper than the avis.de site so happy enough with that!

I'm pretty keen to make use of this, but I just read the T&C's, one of which stated: "This Iberia Plus membership number must be given at time of reservation and the card shown at time of rental.". Given that I would still need to sign up to Iberia Plus, I don't think there is a very good chance of receiving my card by the weekend. Is this likely to be a deal-breaker?

From the Iberia website (after signing in):

Remember to identify yourself as the holder of an Iberia Plus Card when you book and each time you use partners' services."
