Up to 35,000 Velocity points for switching to AGL Energy

Why can't they just give points on any plan!!!

Currently on family and friends plan. Electricity is 0.22858 and daily supply is 0.77858.

Velocity offer: 0.2475 and 0.84348.

If I switch out I probably can't get back in. At the higher rates, I'll probably break even over a year taking into account the sign up offer.

Anyone else receive a call from Red Energy asking why you were moving to AGL?
I told them, for the Velocity Points, and the sales person said he had been hearing that same reason all day.
He is going to call back in a couple of months as I'll be happy to switch back after the points have landed, and offered some $ incentives. I think it was $75 credit for electricity and $25 for gas. I'll see if they'll offer any QF points too.

Yes, every time I have churned out they have called to ask if there's anything they can do to keep me. Origin Energy does the same.

No call here.
Happy to inform them it's the points, the seat is points.
Let them know some of us are suckers for points, then we pay for it with slightly increased rate for kw/h & gas.

I've now had to sign up three times because of AGL's incompetence. I really hope it's worth it for the points.

Just got a follow up call from AGL trying to sell me gas (no gas at property), connections at other properties, internet, and more - had to cut her off and say thanks but no thanks.

I have had trouble as well.
phoned for offer.
First call, agent didn’t seem to know what he was doing.
Think he just changed my address from an account that was closed 3 years ago when I moved to current address.

Have done 3 calls giving details each time.
Received several emails and several SMS.
Downloaded app (uninstalled and re installed 3 times as directed on subsequent calls)

The App says I am on value saver.
Should it say Velocity value saver?

when I try to look at plan details in app it gives error message saying not available now and to try again later. This has happened every day.

On looking on the AGL app, I'm midway thru 1st months elec cycle.
It states I have a ~$100 balance + xx bill projection.

Just miffed over the "balance" where had that come from?

If it's the same as mine, I believe it's a *credit* balance, not a debit balance: i.e., they have applied the signup $$ bonus and deducted your usage to date.

Well I got a bunch of sign-up emails and have an AGL account … but I am very much still a Red Energy customer. 🙄

If you don't have a smart meter it's probably waiting on a meter reader to come visit

Same for gas, elec transferred within days.

This, every time I switch gas takes weeks, electricity days. In fact my last switch to Origin Woolies Rewards plan, they never bothered switching the gas, despite it being in the order, and had the cheek to offer me 5k ED Rewards points to switch gas (the original offer was 10k).

I got the 20k for the Elec quickly though, and am now binning them for AGL, my old gas supplier has finally confirmed I'm leaving, so at least AGL have processed it.

I have a smart meter and since posting that little message my AGL app now shows energy use for 30 April … problem is so does the Red Energy App …. I think I fail churn school. 😆

The QLD Government has just announced this morning that from July 1 everyone will be receiving $1000 off power bills. I still have credit from the last round of funding so with that plus $1000 plus the $200 AGL credit this should work out to be a good decision to switch!
Handy, but crazy gov antics.

Us plebs want rid ourselves of debt while the gov just wants to rack it up.

I think QLD gov owns its power companies still - so this might be a good way of avoiding them delivering massive profits during a cost of living crisis. 😂

Unlike here in Vic, power companies just fleece us mercilessly and then happily report their profits.

But Chairman Dan gave us millions in dining out rebates During Covid. So we’re even, right?

Close. QLD Govt owns the generators in this State and hence this is a good way of electioneering (we have an election in October) as well as helping your population out.
