$10K for two to Europe - wot's the best option to maximise QF status credit earn?

Hi all - been a browser for yonks but finally joined AFF

I have AUD$10K to burn on a trip early August for me and Mrs Shambles and want to get max SC for my dosh. I know QF had an offer recently for Business class "companion" fare but missed that one. Am looking at MEL-LHR return and happy to consider routes via Asia or Seppo-ville. Whats the best bang for your buck for SC earn?

How much time do you have? How many flights are you willing to take? For that amount of money, you should pretty much be able to get to WP if you go to LAX/DFW and take a gazillion of YUP flights before finally taking the last sector from the US to Europe. However, I would probably also call this "madness".

Grab a $499 *Class to SIN or BKK and then look at J /PE fares ex either of those cities, keeping in mind the onerous booking conditions for QF ex BKK . You might like to look at a mix of J one way and PE the other? AY have also got some very good fares that might work, the extra flights help as far as the SCs go from Finland.

This will break you bank by $400 in total when you convert it to AUD and add the JQ flights but is J ex SIN all the way!

BTW using Jetstar to Singapore then Finnair to Helsinki and onwards to London would earn you 640 SC per person.

Great info mate - I didn't think of Finnair - good call as the extra miles all help. I flew them a few times when I lived in Oxford but only to Helsinki and back so never done long-haul but I'm sure they are great.

Where do you find the $499 star class flight with JQ? I'm looking and all I see is circa $750pp each way ex MEL to changi

$499 is the special they often have on sale, watch also for the Friday frenzies as well. If you book the return ex SIN as a one way its $798SGD which is $596 AUD.
