Hi,

Not sure if this has already been posted but I read somewhere that you earn lounge passes incrementally every 100 SC's earned.

I'm only VFF silver with currently 2 passes but just passed another 100 SC's since being upgraded and no extra lounge pass was given.

Cheers

That has yet to begin (if it is still planned).

From the "Virgin sets its compass to Asia" thread, I noticed this remark..................

Sounds eerily quiet - I suspect that this has gone the way of the "lounge pass after every 100 status credits", with "members telling us that's not what they want".

Can anyone confirm (especially the reps) if this is definitely the case or is it just speculation? Did I miss a thread on this....."members telling us that's not what they want"? From the responses whenever it's been mentioned here on AFF, it had good support.

Honestly, if members don't want the passes, fine, don't use them. But for some of us, I'd like the passes to use when I fly with my whole family (including teenage daughter and her BF).......six of us all up with lounge access (including the kids) for 4. Some passes up my sleeve would be convenient.

I think the biggest issue for VA is the lounge space issue. Lounges are already hitting capacity in peak times.

The esteemed AusBT wrote on this recently:
Virgin Australia axes lounge passes for Velocity frequent flyers - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller
"We conducted further research into preferences of our frequent flyers and the single entry lounge pass was not a priority" a spokesperson told Australian Business Traveller this week.

I suspect the reality is that lounge capacity was getting severely stretched. After all if people didn't want to use the passes, they could simply issue them knowing they'd expire unused and reap the PR benefits of providing a benefit that doesn't cost anything. But the reality probably is that people do want them, and would use them.

I suspect the "members telling us that's not what they want" were the ones who already had access to the lounge complaining about overcrowding.
