I just discovered today that if you're a Rydges Priority Club member you can get Event / Greater Union / Birch movie tickets for $10 including Vmax. Worked a treat.

The secondary benefits of the scheme aren't well published. They need to improve on that.

hi, for someone that doesnt have any plans to stay in a hotel in the near future would you recommend that i sign up?,
also i carnt post links but is rydges priority guest rewards the same as priorityclub and what about Starwood(SPG)?

also is Event / Greater Union / Birch the same as Hoyts or village cinemas in victoria?
im also a member of SDA union and RACV and can get AWE membership which i think might offer the same prices, i dont have a optus plan to use.

like i said i dont have any plans to stay in any hotels soon but seeing ive got a bunch of other store cards in my wallet one more wont hurt.

Greater Union do have one cinema down in Melbourne but it's not the nicest.
For Hoyts (if you can't avail of the Optus offer) then you're next best bet would be to get a Hoyts Rewards card. It's $10 to join (but comes with free ticket) and then you'll have access to a $10 movie of the week each week (usually something in its 3rd/4th week of release).

thankyou for the reply, i think i know the Greater Union you are thinking of, also i think they are renaming all village cinemas in Victoria as Event arent they?, good idea about the hoyts rewards card

Not sure what the current process is, references to the promo have gone from the PGR site and I don't have my card (or pamphlet on the card) handy to check.

OzBargain says use the code "Rydges", but I don't think that works any more.

Unfortunately it looks like this deal is now dead. Alternatives for discounted tickets are the Optus Movie Rewards program but that is now for Hoyts Cinemas. BUPA members can get discounted $10.50 movie vouchers by logging in to their online account (can't be used after 5pm Saturday, can be used online with additional booking fees). There may be a few other options for buying vouchers in blocks of 10 from clubs and societies (I think the Entertainment Book offers this as well)

Plus there is cheap Tuesday and the $10 Cinebuzz movie of the week.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Telstra customers can also get $10 movie tickets at Event Cinemas from Telstra's website. Not after 5pm Saturdays though + supplements for Vmax.

There is a similar deal with Optus I make good use of.
