Interesting special request option on Mongolian Airlines

According to ET based on one comment from a MIAT executive, who says they'd like to be in OW at some stage. Don't really think that one has many legs. Interestingly though, MIAT also allowed you to input a FF number from pretty much every SkyTeam airline, but not any of it's codeshare partners...

Article: The Best Programs for Earning Oneworld Status

I'd 100% agree that having lounge access all the time flying domestically is better than a chance of a better seat. But more that it's a point of difference to non-US based Oneworld status, who can get lounge access but can't get upgrades. Is it better that way? For an AA or AS elite, probably not.

Article: The Best Programs for Earning Oneworld Status

I guess this is balanced by upgrades? Although from the US bloggers I've read, this seems to be an extremely difficult benefit to materially use, as AA sells domestic F quite well.

Finding availability from Dubai to Australia

The easiest way for me to check for exDXB is to add SYD-MEL on the front - it shouldn't cause any POS issues compared to using Europe, and there's nearly always availability. QF codeshares don't care about status, and aren't useful at all in determining award availability. This is still up to...

Finding availability from Dubai to Australia

If you're finding Qantas availability from Dubai-Australia on Seats.aero, then that could only be 1 seat - Seats.aero only searches for 1 seat on Qantas. If you're finding Skywards availability on Seats.aero, that does not apply at all to Qantas. You need Classic Saver award availability to...

Premium Economy MEL or SYD to LAX

For August 2025, the calendar wouldn't open until 12 days after your departure date, in 2024. Bear in mind that Qantas may not actually release Classic Reward seats then though. For 4 people, you may struggle to get all Premium Economy. Not to say it's impossible, but manage your expectations...

    Algeria - Sydney $1810USD R/T J on LH/LX

Seems like a similar fare is filed for TUN as well - you don't need a visa either!

Taken 1 x QF General Lounge pass expiring April 23

Pm me if interested If you can tell me a joke that would be greatly appreciated - note quality of joke will not have any bearing on the lounge pass, it's first in best dressed :P

Sydney Morning Herald article on cheap business class tickets to Europe from Asia

I could be biased, but it's just a poor man's version of this: https://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/strategies-cheap-business-class-europe/ All it does is quote Business class fares from Australia, and then give a couple of examples of cheaper fares from certain ports such as MNL, KUL and...

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

It will still exist for all cash bookings (you'll have the option to use P+P). Probably for people who don't have many points and just want to save an extra $60 when they can't get a reward seat. As many people and the AFF Editor has stressed, Qantas Points are not a currency and they always...

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

Just bear in mind as well that cash return prices are better than one-ways, so using CR+ on one-ways is inherently worse value (only intl. is live, so disregard when Dom redemptions come out) 1712534824 https://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/qantas-frequent-flyer-program-change-2024/

Well I'm stumped. Classic Reward, multicity, release dates, I must be doing it wrong.

Sorry I didn't explain this! I mean you have to break the search down leg by leg, rather than searching end to end, that's all. But yeah, IMO the Australia legs are the toughest. If you don't want to fly certain carriers that can make other legs difficult as well. As others have suggested, it's...

EVA air to EU- what cards, award flights availability...?

For EVA, your best bet would probably be the HSBC Star Alliance card earning Aeroplan points (for the sign up bonus). You can book tickets, using your Aeroplan points, on other Star Alliance member airlines like EVA. You'll need 80,000 Aeroplan points per person, one-way for BKK-VIE on EVA. You...

Well I'm stumped. Classic Reward, multicity, release dates, I must be doing it wrong.

12 months is a bit erroneous, as while some airlines release at 360 days out (JAL, MH), some don't really release until 330 (AA/AS, EK). QF is just a bit in the gutter at the moment for Europe availability, but their Asia availability isn't bad so you could try something like SYD/MEL/BNE - TYO...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

It's pretty easy to get value, compared to the cost of acquiring points, from domestic travel, even in Y. SYD-MEL fares during the day, on some weekdays go beyond $250. But for 8000 points + ~$45, you can get the same seat at 2.5c per point in value. Yes, it's not the best value for points, but...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Sign-up bonuses in Australia are generally higher - while it makes no sense to convert from a flexible currency to QFF (especially in the USA), in Australia we're very limited for options, and we can get 100k+ QFF points from a signup. If you want KrisFlyer miles, for example, you'll generally...
