What's going on with reward availability to Europe?

Thanks @bcworld and @levelnine for your advice - 1 or 2 weeks prior to departure is definitely cutting things fine, but yeah it's possible that there could be seats popping up 3 months before departure (I remember seeing a post somewhere else where someone found multiple J seats for Xmas...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Perfect, thanks for the data point. Glad to hear a success story of getting F Savers (I'm guessing it was First rather than Suites?), as I've only heard bad things about Suite availability (apart from the short hops between SIN and BOM/DEL - not enough time to fully appreciate Suites I reckon)...

What's going on with reward availability to Europe?

Thanks for this info (that UA releases award flights closer to departure). I was perusing seats.aero yesterday as well and saw this, that within the next 60 days there's sporadic UA availability in J for LAX/SFO - MEL/SYD. I've recently snagged 2 J awards on SQ for April next year for MEL-JFK...

Congrats - hope you enjoyed it. Did you book this on release or just happened to come across availability with good luck?

Yup, same experience here. Guess I'm not alone in seeing this! Thought I was going crazy. Enjoy your trip to NYC!

Wow! Was this at end of schedule at the moment of release of the seats? Or a couple of days/weeks later? Yup fair enough - the non stops aren't for everyone, it's three quarters of an entire day blown on a single flight. But I guess that adds to the allure for avgeeks haha. Glad you were able...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Ah yeah, 10k miles is nothing if a stopover is required. In my case the quickest way is the best, any dilly dallying about with stopovers etc will not keep me in the good books with Mrs. MN!!

Nice, great that you were able to book that! Was Saver not available? Unfortunately my severely limited miles balance can only afford the Saver rates. What about the availability of the non-stop SQ24 as opposed to the one-stop-at-FRA SQ26? Or was it more that you preferred to break up the...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Cheers, thanks for the insight. It's a bucket list item of mine to fly the longest flight in the world (much to the chagrin of Mrs MN who'll be accompanying me), and trying to plan the "plan of attack" as the date draws near. We've got a preferred date but will have to be flexible as is the...

Right. So it's just being loaded into the system that way? Or you reckon it's others on the trigger and loaded and pouncing before others get in?

Try ADL/BNE/SYD - JFK, look towards the end of schedule. You'll notice that Fri/Sat are always on WL, other days not. Haven't tried other AU departures but possibly the same. Edit: Try EWR as well, it appears their ULR routes to NY both suffer the same availablity issues. Could be status...

I'm looking at booking a one way itinerary, and as always look to book at the time of release of award seats for that particular date. It's the only way I've managed to get my redemptions thus far (just my bad luck not being able to get them otherwise. Could be the time of travel, route etc)...

    SQ A350-900

For SIN-MEL on an A350 it used to be the "Medium Haul" or "Regional" config that they ran, however recently (or as far back as around a year), they switched over to the "Long Haul" version. The main difference in J between the Medium and Long haul versions is the way the seat converts to a bed...

Trying to find business class flights August 2024

Is this on SQ? AFAIK an agent can't really help with mileage redemptions, they wouldn't have access to special stock/inventory of it. How was this done? There's got to be more to the story...

Amex "I'm going to cancel my card" - bonus points given thread.

It certainly appears as such. Only when the cancellation "happens", the system prompts the agent that there's an offer to retain the customer, by offering x amount of points. Without actually cancelling the card, the offer doesn't show up. Something to do with 2019 Australian government...

New Amex redemption rates for SQ/EK; adding transfers to QR/HA

Just zeroed out my MR balance, it's been a while since it's been emptied! Have never felt poorer before. Back to the drawing board now to figure out how to maximise KF earn whilst on the ground... the options are dwindling but as they say, where there's a will there is a way (maybe).

Amex "I'm going to cancel my card" - bonus points given thread.

Another DP: Contacted AmEx yesterday armed with all the knowledge from this thread. Proceeded with cancellation of both cards (Explorer & Platinum Edge), and just after the cancellation went through I was offered 30k MR (each). Was expecting at least 50k or even 100k given some of the other DPs...
