    Our Virgin Cruise

I did a similar itinerary in reverse in December and found Auckland to be a bit quiet in the days leading up to Christmas. Stayed at the Voco, a new build and also part of IHG, and thought it was quality. Looking forward to your review of the onboard experience with Virgin Voyages.

25 Years of KrisFlyer and the PPS Club

Singapore Airlines really went above and beyond for you after 9/11. Thanks for sharing your story, I have fond memories of SQ in the 90’s when they were at their peak service-wise. Hard to believe KrisFlyer is now 25 years old. I remember the transition from Passages as a kid and the...

Malaysia Digital Arrival Card - Register to Use Autogates

Can confirm you’re now able to use the autogate immediately after registration. Process took a few minutes for biometrics and then worked on the new machines straight away. No line at 5PM on a weekday.

    SQ Concorde: The full story

Fascinating read between the politics and unlucky chap to be attacked by a fellow passenger. Have also toured G-BOAD at the Intrepid Museum in New York, and she’s a beauty.

Pan Am flight 50 - Around the World

Thanks for posting, @toowongman! Loved getting a glimpse of the 'golden age' of jet travel and the incredible routing around the two poles. I noticed there was a generous supply of Tic Tacs on the counter to the gentleman's left to keep things fresh. You'd want to have taken that Monday off...

Finally! Fares are truly coming down! (SQ early birds, incl business to FRA for $6679)

Very keen pricing for summer in Europe and with open jaw/multi city options. I’ve booked into LHR and out from CDG (during the Olympics) for under A$2k. Day flights on three out of four sectors. With exit row seats for and additional A$500 for the four sectors, it’s a well priced way to get to...

Singapore frequent traveller program [eGate Enrolment]

Can confirm. Used the Singapore Citizen/PR eGates successfully in T1 and T3 within the past fortnight. There was a short line for the new (white) eGates so a welcome benefit.

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Food on QF1 SYD-SIN was reasonably good. Thai fish cakes were cooked perfectly, though the beef fillet was well done as is to be expected.

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

QF 551 BNE-SYD 18:40 Departure Choice between the Black Pepper Beef with Rice or Prosciutto Salad. Went with the former and it was good with lean cuts of beef. Approach into SYD wasn’t half bad either.

    Velocity reinstates Singapore Airlines redemptions

Thanks to this thread, I snagged a SYD-SIN roundtrip in SQ J for the peak Lunar New Year period in January. Good to see the world returning to a semblance of normal.

Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

The 'one bottle per six' comment is interesting. Potentially an entire export shipment of multiple grades of wine are being cleared through this deal (i.e. some are Export Signature and others closer to 50% off)? I enjoyed my first bottle, which tasted somewhere between a Giant Steps Harry's...

Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Makes sense if the wine is something like the Signature. And if they're smart about it, they'd collect all the orders first and only de-label the number sold. Thanks, bought a case 👍

NAB QFF Signature Card, 100K Bonus Points, $395 fee, $3000 spend (update Nov-17)

Points posted this morning after speaking to a CSR on yesterday. He agreed my QFF number was already on file and that the points should have posted with the first statement and escalated to the back office team managing NAB Rewards. I also received a response to my Secure Message saying they...

NAB QFF Signature Card, 100K Bonus Points, $395 fee, $3000 spend (update Nov-17)

Similar experience here with statement issuing on 1st February. The 100K bonus points are showing up as earned on credit card statement, but not in QFF. Interesting message at the bottom of the statement: I'm certain the QFF number was provided during application so will call up tomorrow to...

Reason given to cancel churned credit card

Along the same lines I go with 'I've been approved for a home loan and one of the conditions was to close this credit card'. Using CitiBank Australia as a real experience the only question asked was 'Have you signed the contract/mortgage?' and after replying in the affirmative the closure was...

A pilgrimage to the birth place of Qantas.

Really enjoyed the video TR, PaulST! I visited back in 2013 and had a great time on the Platinum tour (and was lucky to be the only person on the tour). It was the middle of summer so 40 degrees too, but the motel had a nice cold pool so that did the trick. Had lunch at the museum cafe and...
